Fingers crossed for you that you manage to move back out again soon O.P. - £200 per month and your food on top...and I would be hurrying to go in your position (ie because the extra I was using for fuel, etc, wouldnt come to anything like £200 per month....). Hence I would want to be out back in the "wide world" as soon as possible. I havent checked exact figures - but I guesstimate that my bills and Council Tax together come to roughly £200 per month on my house in total - and then I have to find food and cleaning materials/loo paper on top of that.
But I guess different strokes for different folks and part of the reason I moved out as soon as I could (errr...<cough> number of years ago) is that I'd worked out that I might well be paying rather more than the extra costs of me being there....hence my personal view was that I would rather be paying even more...but be "out on my own" iyswim.
If I'd just been covering the "extra costs" from me remaining there - then I would have probably stayed rather longer than I did...but when one is paying "extra" anyway...than might as well have the "independence" that one expects from paying that "extra".
In fairness - I've been known before now to tell someone that they werent paying their parents enough to cover the extra costs of them being there - so they should pay more (ie as it wasnt fair to the parents to have them be out of pocket because their adult child was still living there....) and they took my advice and duly offered more and ended up paying a bit extra...
Good luck.
It will be good to have my freedom. My parents suggested £150 per month and I offered £200. They seemed happy with that. I think a wee one bedroom flat will be perfect for me. Cheaper rent and bills.Debt now £48,000 in the form of a mortgage0 -

Weekends are the worst I find. During the week we are all out so much that we barely see each other. At weekends bumping into each other for extended periods is more frequent.
Don't get me wrong, I love my parents and we get on great, but when living apart they don't get on my nerves at all. Maybe its more to do with my shame of scurrying home than anything they have done.DFD: 23/12/20100
