Well to make you feel better I am unable to do any exercise atm because of my knee. I have all week off work next week, n was planning on going gym, playing tennis a bit etc, but can do nothing! Even walking for more than 15 mins irritates it!

Oh no. you know what? I have a bad knee too and had to go for physio for 6 months. The physio massaged it and made sure I did some exercises and that will defl help. Yesterday, I had sore knees from the squats and lunges i did in body pump (as had missed 3 weeks), but i went home and rubbed some voltarel gel on them and this morning, they are fine. The physio really helps. Massage the area above your knee hard, and also try some streches. My knee is finally good now but when there is gym soreness, imake sure i stretch them . Feel like such an old woman. lol. have u tired diong gentle squats against the wall with a ball inbetween your knees? that is meant to make your muscles around the knees stronger so your knees suffer less.

Doesn't seem all that bad to me Mayfair. It's not like its cake and chocolate and chips, which is generally where I go when I fall off the wagon. I think we're too harsh on carbs actually. They're still a necessary food group and not the reason that people are fat. Have you tried couch to 5k? It's a running plan that starts you off gradually, and gets you running 5k in 2 months. I downloaded the podcasts which tell you when to start and stop running and its a gradual thing so you start small and work up from 1 minute to 3 minutes to 5 minutes, then 8 then 20 and so on. Anyway, there is some research that shows interval training is more effective than running at a constant pace.

Joanna have you thought about swimming? Not especially mse but you could get one of the pull buoy leg floats and just use your arms if your knee bothered you.

    Mmm crossaint.

yes swimming is great for joint problems. i did it for a bit and then when it got cold, i stopped. :0)

you are def right about carbs! we do need them. That running plan sounds great esp as i want to get into running but am not a runner. :0) Runners need were so helpful with the shoes as I have been wearing old trainers, and that hurts my knee more! doh! i am soo inclined to get that shred workout though.

ah the physio you have can make a huge difference sadly. i had one where i lived before and for months i felt no change andthen i got one in my gym and she is fab! she also used that scan machine on my knee which ensures that blood flow to the knee is enabled and that helped. her massages around the thighs and knees were lovely as she said tight thigh muscles make knees go funny. :0(

  • Hi everyone, new to the board and have been reading the thread and your progress, so impressed!!

Codemonkey, you suggested eating a breakfast with more protein, any suggestions for something that i can either grab and eat quickly in the morning or prepare the night before? I am very much a cereal girl but willing to change if it helps with the weightloss.

Got engaged 2 weeks ago and getting married September next year so have just started to think about dieting and am dreading it already. I love cakes and wine too much!

Hi guys. I'm getting married on the 28th July 2012 and started the wedding diet!!

I've found THE dress but not going to get measured and buy it until I lose 2 stone. Need to move quickly!!! Been good all week. Not sticking to anything imparticular but just eating 3 healthy meals a day (e.g. toast for breakfast, ryvita and cream cheese or soup for lunch and then something like a jacket with salad for dinner). Allow myself a treat in the evening then (i.e. glass of vino). Going to keep going and see how the weight comes off with this.
