I'll let you know when I have received it. Just waiting on my 3rd confirmation e-mail.

If anyone is planning a trip to the States, you can purchase a laptop to the highest spec you desire. But what you have to remember when going through customs! is to declare it as a buisness tool and you have to have it up and running.
How does this work Larry? Is the US much cheaper? What about the power differences between the UK and US?
    Cheers

trouble is would you notice it [the Intel being faster]?
I doubt it. And I wonder how the two compare on power consumption?

The Currys discounted price now seems to be common knowledge. Have a look over at the Hotdeals UK website.
  • Damn good deal! And DAMN it's from CURRYS cuz I won't buy anything from them that I can't walk away with...

As I found last year when buying from CURRYS website one has to be prepared for them to misrepresent what they are selling : ie for Currys to not actually deliver the product clearly specified on their website.

And despite phone calls (0870 rate if you're not careful and use the SAYNOTTO... site) emails and letters to/fro don't be surprised if they still deliver the same wrong item a SECOND time.

Oh and don't think you can resolve an Internet purchase by a visit to your local Currys store - they just didn't want to know.

Oh and dont be surprised if after a formal complaint - and oral assurances that they were not the completely incompetent business that they clearly were with me - they still delivered the wrong item a THIRD time.

That's what happened to me last Xmas and took over 2 months and 5 stays in for a courier to/fro to conclude it all with a refund. Got £25 out of them by way of some compensation but frankly NOTHING would compensate me enough to do business with them on the Internet again.

So ruling myself out of this "almost too good to be" deal but if you can all get £100 out of DSG's profits by these tips/tricks then go for it - just don't be surprised if it's an uphill water push to conclude the transaction one way or another! afterall maybe Currys DO think it's a 'washing' product - nothing would surprise me with them!

I do still physically shop at local PC World but ONLY when their price is very significantly lower than anyone elses and I know their margins are suffering badly. AND do remember that if/when they havent ACTUALLY put aside the product that you DID reserve online to collect, do insist on an alternative product that matches/meets the price & specification of what they promised you but failed to bother to reserve for you!
  • Just ordered the Toshiba one even though i dont need a new laptop, moneysaving expert indeed !!
    WHOOOOSHHHHHHHHH……..
    Blimey what was that ?
    That was your life mate
Oh I wasn’t quite ready can I have another go ?
Sorry mate only one per person.
  • My First post be gentle with me.....
I do hope this helps someone, there are codes on hotukdeals for this.
Here we go, stay with me...
    This at currys online
    The TOSHIBA A100-147 T2050 is £499.99
There is a code for all laptops for 10%
Which brings the price down to £449.99
Then there is also a code there for a further 10% off anything.
Type this in as well and you then get another 10% off
Which brings this TOSHIBA A100-147 T2050 down to £404.99.
Now thats not bad for an intel dual core pc.
    Good Luck Everyone.
