Toshiba Core Duo Pro Laptop for £449! (merged)

The L100 mentioned has only 512Mb RAM.
You'll probably have to pay at least £50 to upgrade this to 1GB.
As the machine uses shared memory graphics, that means 128Mb of system RAM is used for the graphics, so you're better off with 1GB.
The processor is slightly faster, but the extra memory in the Currys model will make more difference than this.
Also the L100 only has a 40gb HD and it also only has a DVD READER, (CD writer). You will want a DVD burner with a laptop of this spec.
So in my book the Currys deal is better.
My sister has bought one and is well pleased.0 -
Not really an expert ! at first glancethough looks like the link you show is a bit faster processor, the hard disk is 40gb as opposed to 60gb, and the screen is not a Tru Brite also only 512mb ram as opposed to 1gb ram. So the processor is a bit faster but a smaller harddrive and not as good a screen and half as much ram.
I am not an expert though !

Well looking at the tosh and compaq the compaqs battery life is very bad in comparison. However the spec generally is better on the compaq... im 2 minded... I think its going to depend on that battery life atm.
Also if you do decide to buy from Currys dont forget Quidco and enter the voucher RSAXMAS for 50 quid off.0 -
