Lucky you, the frosts must have been really mild then, or you have extra tough Scottish wee spuds.:)We had white frost again this morning, tha must be about 4-5 frosts we've had so far, and my tatties are fine

French beans only went outside this week as I feel their more sensitive. Still in the greenhouse are cucumbers, smaller tomatoes plus the lettuces (I grow them there in trays and just take the leaves, not as lettuce hearts).
Main problem is lack of rain - no rain for probably two weeks or more and the water butts are just about run dry. Luckily, I think we're getting rain over the weekend.
It always amazes me the different weather we get across what is, after all, a very small country.
Yep, and they keep cancelling the rain - not impressed:(0 -

Not if you're really lazy and have just planted them out so they aren't showing just yet

I haven't even got my Blue Danube yet.
Early spuds in a bag in the greenhouse.

been out in the garden this morning and caught a neighbour planting out her cucumbers and peppers!
advised her that it was too early for them to be out and that there will be some cold nights this coming week. Reply was 'my friend has already planted hers out and said it was fine for me to do the same; where does this friend live? Southern Italy.......you just can't help some people.
Ignorance is certainly bliss! You live and learn. After a few times of nuturing your seeds, planting them out far too early and losing the lot, you start to learn that all your efforts are wasted. I always used to sow and plant my tomatoes outdoors far too early and then have to make elaborate arrangements with individual large mineral water bottle cloches every day and night, putting them on, and taking them off, according to the whims of the weather. I've sown my tomatoes much later this year and hope that at last I will be spared this performance. Some years you can be lucky, but it's just too gutting to put all that effort in and then lose the lot through lack of patience.0 -
Just imagine how the small nurseryman feels when he sells his lovingly nurtured plants, with the correct health warning, only to have them come back a week or two later complaining they have died. They get quite upset when you say "I told you so"I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

more sales.
AND I bet you get a kick saying "this time keep them in till the last frost, or cover them up" :rotfl:
I know I would

We`ve got a couple of dicey days toward the end of the week - I don`t think it`ll get as cold as forecast though, and I`ll make the call based on if I can go take the dog out for his final toilet visit without a coat on... needs be I can drag the pots I`m most concerned into the kitchen overnight.
Only really worried about the stuff that`s gone out this weekend though - the other stuff`s weathered worse than what`s coming up. The end of our garden`s very sheltered anyway though which makes things a bit safer.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0
