Another daft question coming up.....our 'feels like' forecast for the next while is 1C tonight, then from 5C upwards thereafter.

Am I right in thinking it's ok to plant out after tonight/tomorrow has passed?

depends where you are alias and if you are in a frost pocket eg down a hill. All my planting out will be finished this week as where I am should be ok. My plants need a period of cool calm conditions so the root systems can grow stronger

I'm in the Scottish Highlands. We seem to not get things as bad as stated in the forecasts though so perhaps we're in more of a sheltered spot, I don't really know. Admittedly it has been a tad colder at night but nowhere near what the forecasts suggest. During the day, if I hadn't been working in the garden, I would have been able to sunbathe. :D

Our last frost dates were early May so I'm thinking this is it, iyswim.

I do wish I knew what I was doing. :rotfl:

Here the last frost date is 1st June, and now I know why :D We had a lot of white mornings here but so far I haven't lost anything. Just noticed a couple of tatties nipped so now keep them well earthed up. I think we tend to get very impatient and try to hurry plants up, which cant really be done :D

Had to fleece various things for the first time last night.
Mostly they all came through ok (including a few courgettes!).

The unfleeced potatoes look a little frost nipped but not terribly damaged.

not sure whether to cover them again tonight now as the various forecasts seem to disagree by about 6C.

Here in the Midlands the forecast is OK. Lows of 6 on Saturday night. Still not much rain though, the cursed isolated showers. My butt is empty and our allotment won't let us use hosepipes until June.... my back is killing me from lugging water around.

  • Phew you had me worried there. Everything of mine is out!

We're camping weather. Shouldn't go much below 10.
