We have been basking in glorious sunshine and very hot days for quite some time now and many of us have sprouting potatoes and lots of other tender plants outside. So watch out this week for weather touching zero (in the sw ) and feeling like -3
I`ll be getting all the fleeces out of the garage on tuesday and everything but everything is getting covered until friday. A neighbour had upsetting frost damage last year and so many plants are `soft` because of the constant warmth

Ironically the Highlands seem to be getting fair weather next week. Makes a change, it's been dull and rainy mostly.Herman - MP for all!

Need to keep an eye on my tomatoes - they're in an unheated greenhouse at the moment, though off the floor in a sheltered corner at least I spose.

Just hope I don't have to go carting them inside again - am out of windowsill room with the latest plantings!0 -
We've had some frosts, this morning the water in the cat's dish was ice and the cars were pure white, but my lettuce seedlings were ok. They are Oakleaf variety which is supposed to be hardy. Tomatoes in the windowsills were a wee bit shrivelled where they are touching the glass though.0

We've been warning people for the last week that nature will make us pay for this spell of good weather, they don't listen and insist that its ok to put the tender bedding out. Oh well, maybe they'll come back and buy more.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

I have first earlies and second earlies coming up on the allotment and I have enough fleece. My small flowers on the allotment will just have to take their chance. Everything else is at home on patiogros, rootrainer racks, in planters and raised beds and in a 5` high polycarbonate greenhouse. I`ll just be bringing my 30 tomatoes, 3 cucs and several peppers into the house. Everything else will have fleece over them. Looking at countryfile, we may not get a frost here but I`m not taking any chances
Phew april has been such a busy month, keeping everything watered and also transplanting as well as pricking out and being ever watcgful re the weather. Next year I will be sowing the exact numbers of everything that I want plus a few extra. This year I have hundreds of baby plants of all sorts, all looking fantastic, I`ll be giving the spares away locally but is has been hard work because of the very persistant hot weather here so I learnt my lesson re being enthusiastic0 -
Its been very dry where I live on North Yorkshire coast. Its not been cold at night for a while either finally sleep with windows open with OH moaning although couple of days we had lots of sea mist due to sea warming up, which is unusual for time of year0

Sheesh. I have planted out. Fleece? I'm in sw, but checking local forecast on bbc it suggests lowest in next five days will be overnights of 5.0

you want metcheck.com, they are more pessimistic than the bbc which is sometimes on the optimistic side0 -

Metacheck really is a lot more pessimistic! I was monitoring a range of weather sites over winter and metacheck was always gloomy, but bbc was a way out. Metacheck does have us dropping below.
I guess I'll cover at night and hope!
TBH, more worried about fruit than anything else...not much I can do to protect that either.
