The rental trap

And just one other little tiny point..
Who said the woman in question was white?
I think you reply speaks volumes on the type of person you are
Well I'm married to an immigrant, so I'm maybe a little sensitive on the subject. Non EU immigrants don't get a lot of benefits, believe me, despite paying NI and tax just the same as anyone else.
Look, I apologize if I judged you wrong, sincerely. But 4 posts in and into a complaint about immigration is a fairly well worn BNP supporter route onto this board.
For the rest it's much more complicated than just being about immigration. I agree with you about the problems with housing costs being precisely because we produce far fewer homes than households.
But immigration is a net benefit. It brings net tax and net talent into the country. Much of the EU immigration - the bulk of migration - is transitory and we get the benefits of a young workforce without the costs of an aging population by and large. Ultimately the solution to your problems is less Little Englishness (such as you complained about in your first post), and more building with less restrictive planning rules.
Actually the "bulls" on this board have been pointing out there is a shortfall between household creation and home building since long before you arrived. We've pointed out that mortgage rationing prevents people like yourself who can afford repayments but are short of a deposit pushes people into a rental trap. Others here believe that prices are just going to naturally fall back to 3x wages. In a way you turning up here is one of the confirmations that we've been right. That doesn't mean we enjoy it though.
You ought maybe to have one of the bears explain to you why the removal of what they term "lax lending" is a benefit for you.0 -

The only one bringing any type of racism discussion, or pounding that drum, is you.
the OPwrote: "Oh, and i read the other day about yet another immigrant with his several kids who does not work(and probably never will) and has paid zero taxes being moved into a £1,500 a week home"
as a comparison to his "friend" who is living in some scummy shed he describes. He was advised to speak to the environmental health dept to ensure someone comes into the proeprty to inspect it, to see if it is acceptable for habitation and undertake an assessment and enforce repairs if needed.
Environmental health is open to anyone who lives in the UK including "immigrants" it is a service for all and provided by local councils.
I think the "and probably never will" is supposed to make us feel like we should hate the immigrant. The line is such that one should dislike the immigrant and think this OP with money, stable life, job etc, should be more entitled to help than someone with a number of children who never asked to be born.
pS 1500 A month rent is not that much it uis a small 3 bed flat around here. Hardly millionaires row. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
For the third time of asking. Why can you not get a mortgage with 15% deposit? On what grounds were u rejected? If u can't answer this rather basic and reasonable question I can only assume you ate indeed a troll.0

What about the many more white families who are not working and clogging up all the housing estates, i lived in st johns wood for a while where rents are astronomical, and you had huge estates which were full of unemployed scroungers most were english and some had even bought the flats for £35k 10yrs ago at a v v reduced rate from council and these were now worth 400k+! I also worked in the west midlands and had seen areas transformed from dangerous druggie places to lively streets, as the immigrants have set up their own shops, hairdressers, restaurents which even non immgrants use.
To the OP...you just need to save quickly for a deposit, you say youv only saved 10% after 10yrs of working (as ur 30's) so without knowing incoming/expenses i would have thought youd have been able to save alot more by now.0 -

Exactly. If theres an issue of him not being able to borrow enough, then an extra 5% deposit makes no difference as you still cant afford it.
This is how property prices are around world in all developed countries, self pity wont change anything0 -

So its the fault of the consumer for buying the flat at 35k or the fault of the government that these flats are now worth 400k?
How do you get a mortgage if you dont have a job. If you know please will you tell me, mortgages are a lot cheaper than rent at the mo and Im not earning at the mo.
Ps completely agree about the contribution to business. Some places would be a total ghost town withut immigration, london in particular. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

At the end of the day who cares?
The OP is moaning about his lot. I had to start from FA aged 35. I managed to get on the housing ladder.
The girl he is on about is only 1 shag away from getting herself sorted out as well. Loads of single birds are in crap positions. They go down the disco, meet some rich fella, marry them. Problem solved.
If like he says she aint bad looking then she has no worries.
If you have the drive you will get what you want. If you cant cut the mustard you will end up in a bedsit moaning. Simple. We love Sarah O Grady0 -
Through my work(and i would rather not go into detail) i have recently come into contact with a very sad case, and a story i wish the national press would pick up on(so if anyone could help me)...
This lady is now in her early 40's, she does not smoke or drink and as far as i am aware had never taken drugs, she also looks in great shape for a 40 plus year old. Believe me, this is all relevent once i tell you the rest of the story and the life she has had.
She had a fruit cake as a mother who is currently in an institution and has been for decades, father long gone.
From the age of four she was put into several homes and foster care homes. In one home she was sexually abused, at first nobody listened to her but the police later went on to prosecute, the man that had assaulted her went on to die before it went to court. This lady then had counciling for a few years, but on the the whole that was it for her.
She went onto find work and meet someone after having a few boyfriends, which is all quite normal and we have all been there. Just recently they broke up through him being one huge !!!!***, she came away with nothing.
Her biggest problem in life is that she has never had anyone who she could lean on if times got tough, when she initially broke up over Xmas she ended up in a crappy freezing cold caravan all on her own with her dogs, she then moved close to here mother for all the use she was.
She managed to get an ok job even though she does not have to many qualifications, and now has to rent, and this is the bit that is so wrong.
The place she is renting is just outside the main town, it is a wood stucture that is just a glorfied shed with hardly any room, she has to pay £500 for a crap hole like this.
This is the shortened version, there is obviously more to the story. But this very proud lady who refuses to be a victim whos favourite saying is "life is just is not a fairytale" has to live like this.
I am angry enough at my own situation, but my problems are nothing like hers, she deserves more than this, a lot of people deserve better than this.
Oh, and i read the other day about yet another immigrant with his several kids who does not work(and probably never will) and has paid zero taxes being moved into a £1,500 a week home
Anyone that knows anyone that might be interested in a story like this, please help me out, for all the story you hear about lazy non working breeding ponces there is a tragic unfair story like this who i would be more than happy to help her out with welfare, anyone disagree. And more than anything get her out of that exploiting landlords scummy little shed that is not fit for purpose.
in my experience i have found immigrants to be hard working people, many come here from countries that dont have a welfare system as we do and come here to work, and work hard they do.
i remember on a night out i was in a minibus and the driver commented on a foreign gentleman driving a nice car, he said"i bet that immigrant got that for free when he came into the country" or maybe words not as nice as that, but what he didnt know was the gentleman came here with nothing and done a crappy job for all the hours god sends and now he is self employed. i know this because the gentleman was my best friend in school, but this country has so many racist people like you who think immigrants get everything for free.0 -

I was merely pointing out that things are unfair i.e people buying houses at the fraction of the price.
If you have no job how can you get a mortgage? It shouldnt be that you can get a mortgage/property if you have no job, unless you have money.0
