Should I pay for this?

I think you should pay for it. yes it wasnt the best clothing to wear when playing rugby but it was ultimately your son' s fault0

With this in mind, I thought I would confirm for you as a mature, sensible person with values that yes absolutely you should pay. Rugby is a rough game but played correctly clothing shouldn't be damaged.
I agree with you beast as £25 isn't particularly expensive for a t-shirt so wouldn't seem out of order that the boy was out playing in it BUT if the boy had been wearing an expensive designer top that had cost £250 I might not be so keen to agree with you
(shame on me

If it was my son coming home with a ripped t-shirt for playing rugby with his mates I would smack him round the head and tell him he'll be having his tops from Poundland in future.
Seriously, it happens all the time with kids, I wouldn't dream of going to every parent's house and asking for the money back.If you're going to stalk me, while you're at it can you cut the grass, feed the dog & make sure I've got bread & milk in

Your son should pay for it.
And he should apologise.
The fact that it wasn't done maliciously is neither here nor there. If you damage someone's property - accident or not - you should offer to pay for it."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
I'd go halves, since they should share resonsibility for the tear, and fwiw I think £25 is expensive for a Tee shirt :money:Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

This is probably fair enough, definitely wouldn't pay it all as they were both playing rugby. If you're going to stalk me, while you're at it can you cut the grass, feed the dog & make sure I've got bread & milk in

As it was both their fault, I'd pay half."Dance like nobody's watching; love like you've never been hurt. Sing like nobody's listening; live like its heaven on earth." - Mark Twain0

no, and I wouldn't expect anyone else to pay for one of my childrens items that was damaged while out playing..
If your son gets pocket money he can pay him back out of that if he wants but there is no way I'd be handing over cash.. part and parcel of being a healthy young man.. they go out and come home with torn jeans stained tops and soles hanging off shoes.. My 19 y/o got new trainers 2 days ago and painted a fence wearing them yesterday...LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
No - they should be playing in £3 shirts from matalan - then no need to get stressed!0

If your son is under 18 he isn't liable for the damage. If you want to accept a moral responsibility, then pay them the second hand value of the shirt - about a fiver
