Hello again Matrix
I haven't posted for ages - really tough time since Christmas and I haven't felt like doing anything. Nothing too dramatic - husband recovering from a broken leg and my back has been unbelievably painful and has stopped me doing so many of the things I want to do, need to do and enjoy doing. I've just been really 'down'. I've been reading the thread all along, just not contributing.
New Start Sunday seems a good time to get back in touch. I'm trying really hard to get back to a positive frramd of mind - but it's a hard fight just now. I know some of you will understand.
So.....15 minutes doing something that makes my heart sing. Can I think on that and let you know?
So some positives to report.
1. Number 3 grandson is now 3 months old and is doing well
2. Daughter is much better following a devastating pn depression
3. Have seen the neurosurgeon who has ordered further tests so he can decide whether further surgery (last surgery only 6 months ago) or another injection into the spine is appropriate - so hopefully there will be progress on that one
4. Fantastic weather
5. Family coming round for family barbie - although son & family can't come as number 2 grandson is throwing up!
6. Booked to go away for a couple of nights next weekend as hubby's birthday pressie.
Well there you go..........never thought I'd get to number 6!!!!!!!
Take care everyone

MG whats your ultimate grocery challenge all about? Glad your well and have your mojo back and lovley to see that your boys are such a credit to you.
The aim is to see how long we can make £100 last for - living mostly out of storecupboard.
I'm hoping that this gives me a more accurate idea of what my food budget could be .................. by anyhoo it does focus your brain on looking at what's in store rather than just buying your "normal" shop and somehow never getting around to emptying the storecupboard.
Lord knows we are not at the "feeling deprived" or "freezer bingo" stage just yet

Well, just devoured the roast lamb and tabbouleh... Hubby declared it was gorgeous, even if it was made with Lamb, which is not his favourite meat. Well, it disappeared quickly enough!
Going to leave it a bit before having pudding... fruit salad and a dollop of yogurt on it. But to be honest, feel lovely and satisfied now. Going to curl up on the sofa with my crocheting and attempt to finish the first "set" of woollen patches this afternoon. And try and dissade the cats from "helping"
Was going to do some gardening, but maybe not. Feeling pretty sleepy! I might do some pottering tomorrow. Or not.I have Tuesday as well!

Souk - sorry to hear about your Mum but glad things are improving....these parents - they don't half scare you at times
Susan - good to see you back - hope things improve with the good weather.
Off to clean up after Diego now - dog has a penchant for deciding where he eats & carries his bowl there himself. Today is al fresco eating but managed to tip the bowl up in the hall.......
And Crickett - not impressed - I read your lunch & had to go out to buy a small roasty thing - leg of pork. Since it was your fault by making me drool I reckon I should sent the bill to you:pDebts 07/12/2021

Diego Dorgi has a pig's ear. Tora wants said pig's ear. Diego's attitude - Go Spin.....
Tora the Tart then lies on her back in front of Diego - slides along to tempt him with ladybits - when he's being "interested" she grabs pig's ear & runs
Where did she learn to do that ?- wisnae me - honest.....:D
CM I loved your story about Tora the Tartlet - that was so funny and I could visualise it happening!
Easter greetings to everyone who celebrates and happy hols to others. We have finally got a day of lovely sunny weather like the rest of the country seems to have had for the last week. We have had lots of haar from the sea and rain, its been so cold we had the heating on yesterday . Just had a lovely roast dinner and some chocolate from eggs. OH lying down now so we'll have proper pud later - sort of Eton mess, yum yum.
Off out to sort the garden a bit more am doing it V slowly as my back isn't great. Have a lovely rest of the afternoon and evening all. Teapot X0 -
Done in - but successfully so.............
Done 4 x 15 minutes digging in the garden - and have dug a trough right along the back of the garden, then three rows of double digging................... needless to say the bath is now running ..... with some radox if I can find some:D
I figure I have about a month to get the garden ship-shape for proper planting so I feel I have bitten off quite a chunk today.
Next thing - roast dinner (Actually its a take the roasting tray out of the fridge and bung it in the oven kind of dinner) but obviously I wouldn't want you thinking I'm a terrible mother :rotfl:
In the mood for a pud tonight - so having coconut cake inspired by my rummage through Granny's recipe book this morning.
COCONUT CAKE
Grease and flour a cake tin - or a 2lb loaf tin - or a small tray bake tin.
In a bowl mix
1 cup SR Flour
1 cup coconut
1 cup sugar
1 cup milk
Pinch of salt
1/4 tsp baking powder
Pour into the tin and bake at 170 for 20-25 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean ( will depend on the tin and the thickness of the cake obviously)
I have eaten this with fruit and cream, hot fruit and ice-cream, topped with jam and custard. It probably could be cooled and topped with warmed jam and coconut (just like sponge at school dinners)
A real trip down memory lane for me.
