    Sorry missed bits
Greenbee, I really hope that you get the news that you want tomorrow. I dont know what else to say.
Tenmah, - when I got promoted I was told by a very good friend (brilliant manager) a piece of advice as simple as "If you are liked by your staff all of the time then you are doing something wrong as a manager. It is not possible to be be liked all of the time if you are a good manager"

I am homesick. Watching Springwatch and they are down the road from where I live. Feel really homesick :(

Thank you all for the positive thoughts.

I'm sure we've had the discussion before about the fact that you can't always be liked as a manager. Interestingly I found once I stopped worrying about it my team respected and liked me a lot more. People like you for different reasons as a manager than they do as a peer.

Cheri - is the homesickness due to wine, or due to the fact you haven't had any yet? :D:p

Hey all, right first and quickly I still havent spoken to my lady. Had to work late and the number isn't working. I'll call tomorrow.

    Cheri, WOW!!!!! Good for you.

    Greenbee, vibes for tomorrow.

TMIF, hugs. Keep typing other stuff but possibly best to keep my views on S.E.X to myself. I love it and the only PITA is that I have to work and cant do it all day. Id do it on the stage of the Royal Albert Hall if you let me. The best thing about being single is that you dont know who you'll do it with next. The worst thing about being single is that you don't know when you'll do it next
    For you, hugs.

Thank you all for your replies - you have certainly given me lots to think about. I can be a bit of a 'bull in a china shop' and you have made me realise I don't have to go rushing in but can approach this in another way. There is a bit of history between myself and the other manager who once took umbrage in the tone of an email I sent him (unintended) and replied that as he was my superior he would not tolerate me in talking to him in that way! He also copied in my big boss (as he did with today's email) but luckily my boss couldn't see any implied tone and felt I had explained myself correctly.

He also couldn't believe that someone had called themself 'my superior'. No one is anyones superior, unles you are living in victorian Britain maybe!

The Thanks button has disappeared so please accept my thanks here. I actually think I am a carp manager, but it wouldn't make sense for any one else to manage him, so I have to do it!

Leaving tomorrow Claire. I did think about arranging to meet you at the Craft in the Bay for a coffee if you were free but I have been rather preoccupied. Perhaps next time I am down we can meet up maybe?

No Greenbee, due to being away. Just brought a glass of red up to the room but not started it yet. I do love where I live, I love the country and the peace and quiet. Whenever I am in the city for more than I day I feel homesick. They are literally in one of the forests and the beach where I walk so I feel really far away.

Good for you, you can take your time to decide what to do about this. Glad your boss could see the situation for what it is. Sounds like the other manager needs a few lessons.

Thanks FW... just tomorrow to get through and if it goes well I might even get permission to start taking exercise again :D Mind you, my consultant thinks anyone who wants to go for a run is mad... particularly someone who's first question when he came round to discuss the op was 'can I go running at the weekend?':rotfl:
... but I AM feeling much better now, so hopefully I'll be able to start going for walks and work my way back to running. Having said that, I've been avoiding driving too :o
