No digging today I'm afraid - managed to hit a huge stone with the spade yesterday afternoon and wrenched my back. Managed to haul myself out of bed this morning - but my back is in complete spasm .................. it's time like this I really miss having another adult in the house.
Cue hot water bottle and nurofen for breakfast.
So going to have to revise the Frogs I eat this morning. DS1 has been saving since Christmas for new game - and the plan was to drive him the 8 miles to the shop to buy it. Plan B, he has to catch the bus there and back on his own instead (although Grandama is going to meet him for a juice and a bun down there and put him back on the right bus).
Good lad has spen the last hour whizzing aorund doing the "mummy-in-the-morning" stuff............... think he will be glad of the rest now that he has prepared two breakfasts, fed the cats, taken one load of washing out of the machines, etc etc.:D
Off to get him organised for the bus at 9 - and first he needs to change his top as he has dribbled milk down the one he has on.

I even managed to do 15 minutes this morning while on the tram coming to work. Lots of people were staring at me as if I was slightly odd, but several other people started chatting to me about it!
I find this all the time - especially if I am knitting socks. I use the "magic-loop" way of doing socks because its easier to throw in a bag without losing a needle. Grannies are always sitting down with me to find out how its done - they are all proficient in the 4 needles method and I think all crafters get curious about new techniques.
You get some , ahem!!!, interesting conversations ............. and some of those Grannies can be really risque!!:rotfl:

Mega mega mega Positive vibes coming your way for your challenge, woohoo. YOU GO GIRL.
Rock it out yay xx0 -
Hope your back feels better very soon MG, and what an adorable DS1 you have, he sounds just like my DD, who does quite a bit of looking after me when I'm poorly, the worst was when she actually had to get me dressed a couple of years ago as I couldn't do it
She is going to be the best doctor ever, as she's so caring and sensible (when she wants to be, lol). Hope you'll be back in the garden before you know it!
Today I have no frogs to eat, just fun going out with OH tonight, but I am going to be packing up someone's office into boxes so I'd better go and take a couple of pre-emptive painkillers!0 -
MG
Try ice on it (in a plastic bag wrapped in a towel) for 15 minutes at a time, it helps more than heat. And gentle stretches. Lie on the floor or bed and hug your knees close to your chest then try rocking GENTLY from side to side. If you can manage that, then spread your arms wide and try dropping both knees first to one side then the other. Don't even think about pushing yourself to do more than is manageable
If it is just a protective muscle spasm then at most three days will see you feeling better - but then you need to be VERY CAREFUL. There is probably still some unhealed damage but not enough to trigger a muscle spasm.
Can you tell I've been my osteopath's best customer over the years? But over the years I have learned what to do to minimise the painIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
So I already told you guys that there is a Doctor around the corner - right?
Well he popped in to ask if I could make up a box of cupcakes for one of his Nurses Birhday next week as a favour - there is a shop in the village, but they are £1.60 per cupcake:eek:
He was shocked that DS2 and I were still in our jammies - and I had to confess that I didn't know if / how I was going to be able to get dressed because of my back.
Bless him, he changed DS2's nappy and dressed him, put his wellies on and opened the door to let him out to play in the garden (DS2 was out like a bullet)
He started the shower for me - extra hot!!! gave me a anti-spasmodic pain killing injection in the bahookie and told me that if I couldn't get out he would help me in ten minutes.
I managed to get out and into my robe - and he's only gone and done the breakfast dishes and made a cup of coffee for us both. Then he insisted on getting me dressed:o. Oh The Shame :rotfl:
He has left me sitting in a hard chair at the computer with a hot water bottle on the spasm and says he will call me later.
I'm under instructions to move about as much as possible and to alternate the heat with ice packs too t reduce the swelling.
Actually I feel loads letter for the shower (and probably the injection too)........................ just not what I expected this morning :rotfl:

Good Morning
Had a lie in this morning, ds1 got himself up and out to placement,
Took me 15 mins to tidy through downstairs and put dishwasher on, cause everyone seems to be putting their own stuff away
So plan of action today, see how many cheap and cheerful necklaces I can put together and photographed, doing 15 mins at a time.Boiler pot £30.92/£10000
