Oh EH! Sympathies, hugs etc...
I have murderous impulses today too! I am suppressing them. For now.
If there's something on the news, and you know you didn't kill your boss, then guaranteed, it was me.
!!!!!! is on the victim list as well....!
Odd - had a lovely weekend in Brightoniums, and now he's verging on being killed! Bless them x0 -
Ladies, am thinking of heading out to get some yeast and bits for my BM, any tips for a complete beginner? Apart from the obvious not being a complete pig with the bread of course!!!'The road to a friends house is never long'0

Cheapest bread flour has always served me just fine, and we use Doves Farm yeast in the orange block which we find to be excellent, and cheaper than the individual sachets. Any white bread recipe can be made tastier by swapping a third of the white flour for either seeded or granary. other than that, follow the recipe book until you're confident enough to fly solo, and don't be tempted to make dough to bake in the over unless you want to eat an entire loaf in one sitting! (the smell! Mmm!)
Thanks for the vibes ladies - keep 'em coming - TMIF, I'm happy to share, if neither of us make the 9 o'clock news tonight we can consider it an achievement!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

This isn't about buying flour... but have a look at the texture of the bread at the different stages - we got to the point where we could tell if the mix was too sloppy/dry and add some more flour/water before an entire loaf went to pot
Of course, we ruined many a loaf in the mean time (or rather ate many loaves of 'artisan bread' :rotfl: :rotfl:)
So don't give up if it doesn't turn out right first time! Oh, and check temperature of the water (if it recommends one) - don't want it too hot or too cold or the yeast won't work!0 -

Woooeee!! things are flying here today in Thriftyland :T
Second load of washing on the line (you know the problem with getting through your washing folks, yip, the ironing mountain you are left with )
Dd delivered to her Maths GCSE
An hour's walk :T:T:T
Six portions of de-scuzzed mince, all lean and fat-free now, half the price of steak mince, cooked and now in the freezer ready for chilli, bolognaise, lasagne, etc
Two portions of mushrooms frozen as well (defrosted freezer at weekend, so starting to fill her up again)
Does anyone have some ideas for cheapy pasta meals (looks hopefully in MG's direction) - my repertoire includes lasagne, veggie lasagne, pasta bolognaise, pasta n cheese sauce, pasta n tomato sauce. Could do with some more variations.
Right ho - time to make an apple crumble and make a start on that ironing. Paperwork will have to wait, in fact I think it will be tomorrow's first frog as I keep procrastinating and I need a clear head to tackle it.0 -

Fantasia : That's really good going. :T:T:T. Just keep plugging away one hour at a time. I found recognising my 'trigger points' was important and also realising how many I smoked that I wasn't even conscious of.
When I picked up the phone, my hand would reach for the cigs without me being aware of it. :rotfl:
Everyone who has rubbed open a wound and shared a hurtful experience. ((())). I hope sharing helps the healing and gives comfort to others in the same situation.
Souk : I use the cheapest bread flour I can lay hands on and use about 1/3 white to 2/3 wholemeal or granary. All wholemeal is OK but all granary tends to be a bit on the heavy side. I bake all our bread - used to do it all be hand but now cannot knead so well and moved over to my Kenwood Chef. Now have a cheap BM and use it for kneading and proving, then bake in the oven. It really makes a difference to the bread if it is proved at exactly the right temp. :j
To all with murderous tendencies, I hope the offending parties learn their lesson soon. But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?0 -
