    Right bed time for me, I have 2 more pairs of jeans to chop up tomorrow :) Might go to charity shop see if I can find more, might see if a pair of trousers will work too :)

    You might find the supermarkets cheaper. Tesco kids jeans start at £3 a pair and a childs age 12-13 is approx an adult size 10. They usually have loads in the sale too.

    ~~~~~~~~~Vibes for your meeting crickett!~~~~~~~~~~
    Busy days today it looks like!
    My lesson for today is to make sure other people know how I'm feeling. I've been getting proper wound up about my lack of progress in the garden, I'm trying to build a retaining wall/fill in a giant hole/create a patio/build a fence etc - and can't sit out in the garden til I do it. However, I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing, and I'm too feeble to lift the giant ancient paving stones we dug out of the other part of the garden.
    This has been going on for MONTHS, and coupled with the fact that I'm now working full time and can only get to it in the weekends, it's taking forever. A couple of people have helped with various bits for an afternoon, Mr Daffs has never shown any inclination whatsoever to work in the garden, and in general it was all being left to me.
    Last night I had an inspiration - why not pay someone else to come and do it?! :rotfl: Never occurred to me - largely because I've never been in a position to pay anyone to do anything for me before.
    Mentioned it to mr Daffs, who apparently didn't know how much it was bothering me (!). He's going to come and spend Sunday morning out there with me, and see how much we can get done between us.
    (I'm trying not to anticipate arguments... : o I don't think we've ever done any kind of practical project that hasn't ended in an argument yet...)
    I'll be impressed if we *can* do it by ourselves - no reason why not - he's far more handy than I am, and a fair bit stronger.
    Anyway, the moral of all that is, I need to make my frustration a little clearer and ask for help when I want it...
    Crickett how incredibly short sighted and unhelpful of that Consultant. No doubt they failed to offer any input on how their numerical goals might be achieved too! Of course, he's wrong saying fitness will only get you so far too - as the fitter you get the quicker you will lose the weight! I wish the medical profession as a whole would look at the bigger picture more. The goal-board that MG suggested is a good idea but only if it works for you - if at the moment you need to leave your head firmly under your wing regarding that side of things then that's fine too, but maybe come up with some alternative goals that you can physically push yourself towards? Increasing the number of lengths you can swim at a time in the pool perhaps, or something along those lines? Write down in the manner of a long-term to-do list and strike through each thing as done!
    Cheri those are good ideas, and again thanks for the reassurance! I certainly have beer in the house and may well have some tomorrow night - good plan!
    Another full day for my regular clients today - she was talking yesterday about more extra days so I need to see if I can steer her towards that today I think - first step will be working out a payment plan so she doesn't get hit with a sky high June invoice! Dress down Friday means I am in my jeans, a pretty summery top and my flat suede boots with a pretty bead necklace found for £1 in a charity shop over the weekend!
    Crickett big hugs honey, I have some understanding of what you're going through xxx
    TMIF - have a FABULOUS time in Brighton. I'll be back home tomorrow afternoon and reckon it's going to be a scorcher and v-e-r-y busy down there this weekend! If you get the chance, there's a street festival tomorrow right in the centre (left of the pier rather than the main shopping areas) - Kemptown Festival, sounds like it's going to be amazing.
    Kemp Town Carnival opens at 10am. The main parade, kick starting the live entertainment for the day, starts at 11am with the Parade of Flowers!!
    The procession is made up of over 100 strong bateria of drummers from 4 local samba bands and over 40 dancers, parading through the Carnival site along St Georges Road playing traditional Afro/Cuban/Brasilian songs.
    Other fantastic attractions on the day include creative workshops, climbing tower, inflatable slide, tug-of-war, custard pie fight, robot boogie troupe, street volleyball, face-painting, puppet show, morris dancers, fencing display, steel band, purchase some tasty treats or arts & crafts from our market stalls and much much more!
    Hey Ladies
    I travelled back to London on Wednesday, so I have just enjoyed being home with OH and the cat. Kampala was a very good and productive trip. Heading up to Lancaster for a nice weekend with OH, and then I have a course there for uni all next week. I'm so excited!
    Eeek, wedding stuff is really starting to kick in too. Today we are tasting the wedding food, and then next weekend is the hen weekend. My sisters are coming from Stirling and Copenhagen respectively. Since they had their own families, it hasn't been easy to spend time / be close with them, so I'm glad to have the weekend together. Something I would dearly love is for us all to be closer. I hope it all goes well though - group outings are so hard to arrange, and I don't want anyone to be dissatisfied.
    Crickett, we're rooting for you!! I had hypnotherapy for my IBS and it helped a lot. Would you think about something like that, or counselling to deal with the 'head stuff'? It sounds like you have been through some very difficult times and still have a lot of powerful emotions around. Somehow breaking the link between emotions and eating?
    Morning Matrix-ers
    Sounds like lots of you have lovely plans for the weekend. We haven't got anything planned apart from looking at tents for weekend camping.
    Not a good start to the morning when I've had to chase the bloomin' cat round the house with a fledgling baby bird in her mouth :eek::eek: Poor creature is now in a box in the garage and it's injured from where her sharp teeth were holding her and I assume shock will kick in at some point but hopefully she'll have a slightly less stressful passing :( I am so not used to a cat that catches things. My old cat, well she was indeed old and besides sleeping for England didn't do a lot :o
    EH - Not daft at all, as the lovely ladies of Beyond Chocolate some people use other things to help them cope with life, drugs, alcohol so whilst eating and being overweight isn't good for you I tend to consider it the lesser of 2 evils xx
    Lara - enjoy your weekend with OH and enjoy your wedding stuff.
    TMIF - enjoy Brighton, no idea what the weather is going to be like but hope the sun shines on you and !!!!!! (I love his nick name :rotfl:)
    crickett - Hugs for you and sending you lots of positive vibes for your meeting xxx
    MG - enjoy your picnic on the beach <insert green with envy icon> why can't I live near the beach <stamps foot> :o
    cheri - 8 days straight?! Hope you get some time off in lieu for that xx
    Claire - love the bad, excellent for a first try :T
    Crickett - just an idea that may appeal to your numerical side..... When you go swimming (which is obviously something you love doing!) it is going to be the time it takes you to do X amount of lengths / the number of lengths you can do in a certain time, rather than the number of lengths you can do!
    The reason for this is the body recognises the difference between sharp bursts of energy (you doing more lengths in a given time) and endurance training (doing more and more lengths in total). Your body will use more energy during the shorter bursts than the long distance ones. Your body will use energy more carefully over a greater distance, to ensure you get to the end.
    Maybe you can target your numerical tendancies to recording and improving on the number of lengths in a given time, or reducing the time it takes to do a certain number of lengths. Hopefully, the weight loss should follow regardless and your focus is shifted away from weight. This can be applied to swimming, walking etc!
    I love a good plan - it may not work.... but I love a good plan!
