Remember Bitsy, sometimes good enough is good enough - and take it 15 minutes at a time, however long it takes!

I'm struggling a little at the minute folks :o Taking beta blockers until my hospital appointment to get my overactive thyroid sorted again, and I feel like I'm constantly wading through treacle! Don't get me wrong, it's much better than being anxious and fretful and grim all the time, but I'm so used to just being able to go out of the door and walk for an hour (or even two) without even thinking about it to get where I'm going, that I'm finding it really depressing to think 'I can't walk that far, I'll have to get the bus'. Darn body, not working properly! :o

I did walk 45 mins to the train station this morning, which I'd usually do but haven't done for a couple of weeks, but legs are like lead now!

Sorry, just busy feeling temporarily sorry for myself without good reason really! Have got a cuppa now though :coffee: and a clear day in the diary to crack on, so that's what I'll do :) xx

((Cheery)). You gave good advice to Bitsy so cut yourself some slack. Until you get the right balance of thyroxin you won't feel right so go with the flow. I know it's frustrating.

Have a good old rant if you want to ;)
But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?

OOhh greenbee!!- wonder if I have some of those freebie DVD's - I know I've got quite a few from the "Magic and Sorcery" films - stuff like "The Neverending Story" and "Merlin" - with Sam Neil doncha know (gotta be worth watching just for that, in a "scrummy older man kind of way"................... I could pop them in the post today if you fancy?....

Just think of me as your very own personal "Luv Film" - borrow what you fancy and send them back when you are well.

The one DVD you can't borrow at the moment is "The Secret" which arrived with my lovely guests last night - and which we are planning to watch this evening with a box of choccies and a big pad.
Sounds like a lovely evening :) If you're passing the post office I'd love some viewing material... anything you think I should be watching (I can see this being a very educational process!). I have to start getting mobile again next week, so posting them back will give me a reason to get out and about.

Too right... as long as the children (and their parents) are happy and safe, then that's what's important. Don't do anything for the sake of ticking a box. And remember what we said about factoring in the time you spend doing admin when you're working out how much you earn. Spend too long on this stuff and it starts bringing your hourly rate down, as the time you are charging for has to subsidise this. And if it interferes with your time with OH then it may not be worth it.

Take things easy... I took beta blockers years ago and managed about 3 days before coming off them as they made me cry constantly :o They are not an easy medication to deal with, so keep remembering that it is only temporary and give yourself a break. Its taken me a while to get my head round the fact that sometimes we need to rest (it would have helped to work this out sooner...) even if we think we can somehow carry on as normal ... I actually thought I'd be able to go to the gym 2 days after my hospital trip, and carry on running as normal :rotfl:

I obviously stayed up too late last night (you know when you CBA to go to bed?) so although I woke up at 6am, it took me till 9am to drag myself out of bed. Nothing is booked into my work calendar until 2.30, so I'm going to potter until then - might see whether I can read enough on screen to do some reviewing (although everyone seems to be writing long stuff not short stuff right now...) or get hold of one of my co-authors to work on a few bits. Otherwise it'll just be keeping tidy. Frustratingly I can't do laundry (bending/lifting) but I might try changing the bed slowly over the next couple of days. Good thing I bought lots of new knickers earlier this year :p so I have enough to get my through the no-laundry stage!

Thanks guys :) Needed a reminder that sometimes it's ok to take it easy! :o Will just get the bus to/from the station now and stop thinking 'I should be walking...' - especially at 7am! You're right, it *is* only temporary, I'm at the hospital on 17th so should know more then. (and I won't be coming off beta blockers just yet - overall I feel much better on them!)

Given the hours I spent last night well.......into negative figures!!!

I bought a Daily Diary ebook and there are charts to show you recorded fridge and freezer temps etc. I have a fridge thermometer so I can see when it's at optimum temp but really......being expected to make a note of all this stuff? It's not compulsory of course but this is an outstanding CM who actually does all this. It's ridiculous. And a bit more than a little depressing :(

DS is also doing my head in with his constant demands and the constant "mom......mom......mom...." it's NEVER ENDING and I feel like I am going to scream. Consequently feel like a lousy mother for even thinking this :o

Sorry for moaning......got no one else to talk to apart from the kids.

Hang in there parsnip :) baby parsnip will soon be here.

Cheery take it easy and rest You too Greenbee.

Well I never got up till 10.30 :) didn't help that I woke up at 5 this morning with toothache from hell again :( this blooming wisdom tooth :( Mum has an app in the dental hospital on Monday so she suggested I asked to be looked at the same time :) The abcess has gone but the gum around the tooth is atill very tender and sore. Think I'm going to find some more clove oil today.

I've had a good tidy, took all of 20 mins :) still need to get dressed and make my bed, that's next on the list, then I will start sewing the jean bag I started to cut out last night :)

Morning all and hugs all around.
Cheery, go with the flow, its the right thing for now. Think of it like this, sometimes you have no options but to do what needs to be done and right now getting the bus in order to get on with the day is the right way to go. If you do this then you can save the pottering walks for fun bits like your photography and just take your time and stop for rests.
Parsniphead - sending very strong 'get out of your hole" vibes to the baby. Hope that is an indication that baby will be laid back when s/he arrives but not so laid back as a teenager!!!:)
Marru - well done for keeping the positive attitude going.
Greenbee - I would recommend any Cecelia Aherne book for easy reading when on bedrest. Hope you are better soon.

MG - fresh bread for the visitors............ can I come to stay with you too?

Frankly, she's odd... unless you can plug your fridge into your laptop and get it to download the data, don't bother. The important thing is that you've got it, and can record if there is an issue and deal with it. Alternatively, if you want to do it, can you stick that page on the front of the fridge, tick it as you go past at say midday every day, and then file it when it is done? Think about how you can do these things in a manageable way and if its possible, then do them. If not, forget them

Sounds like you need a break (not that I'm offering to swap :p. Could someone take DS out for the day for you sometime so you can have some time off?
