    Woohoo! Well done Crickett :)

Thank you so much for the video link and to Marru for her lovely PM :) xx

I have been scaring myself with the whole surgery thing but as my mummy said, by the time I need it, there will be more advances in surgery and so it should be much easier than it is now. DD has been a little madam tonight, really horrible mentally and physically to me and tonight I just am finding it hard :( Hope I don't have to wait too long for the new consultant appointment. A friend has lent me a book on healing, but until I get my specs, it looks a bit small print for me unless I prop it up on the other side of the room, lol.

KK I hope that things aent too scary for you. All will be well.

FW - Why are you sorry for yourself. Remember you just had good news! Nothing wrong with Johnny Cash, here - just for you (and any Liverpool fans of course) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRlj5vjp3Ko

    Crickett - well done.

We're home, fed, watered (or wined) and more or less unpacked.

As many folk have said before me - Goodness, you lot can talk! You talk good sense though and I enjoyed a quick catch up.

First : I'm obviously on the right thread. :T My thought processes often lead me into quirky views of the world!

Marru : I like the idea of the 'calm mysterious smile'. He'll wonder what you know that he doesn't. I like that idea.

Pickle and Bitsy : You may need an industrial machine to sew leather. I wrote a machine off once by attempting to make moccasins.

Crickett : Ace news! They just have to justify their existence by making you jump through hoops. Get it off ASAP! Otherwise you will tweak and tweak - been there, done that.:rotfl:

FW : great news on Biopsy. I understand the Johnnie Cash thing - mine is 'Red, red wine' by Neil Diamond. Feeling down/sad/sorry is OK and just proves you are human. A short wallow is necessary at times.
But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?

Afternoon Matrix. Had a good morning with my portfolio. Managed to make all the corrections I identified earlier in the week and got all my evidence tables together.

Then decided I had better look at what exactly I was required to do for my portfolio... and they only want more bits that the bits I have already done. :( So... I am currently taking a break from drafting my General Overall Reflection (or load of hogwash, if you prefer!) and trying not to get cross about it all. And I am now also having to work out my "learning goals and future career goals". Why the carp do they need to know that?! None of their flipping business, if you ask me! :( Oh, and I need to come up with a Continuing Professional Development Learning and Development Plan. Oh Stuff off. :( Of course, I will do it, and make it look pretty and all, but it does rather feel like needless administration. :(
Well done, crickett:T You must be feeling so relieved, but what a load of ??? Does anyone really spend their working day considering their 'reflection' and 'learning goals' and 'development' rather than actually doing the job they are paid for or am I just being an old grump?
Kittikins - hugs, hope things look better this morning
FW - great news on the biopsy result

OK plan for today - find some positivity

Bleurgh, it is wet, windy and wild in West Wales. Not to worry though it means that I wont be tempted to wander off to the beach for too long and I can get some stuff done in doors.

MG, I wondered if you could give us a list of your basics store cupboard again for the living on £100 challenge. I have now run my store cupboard right down so the plan this weekend is a massive shopping list and off to the shops to stock up. Or do you do it on t'internet?

I also have a photograph of the baby gate that he kicked into splinters in temper, you could call that as an ace in ones sleeve :D

Need to go and make potato salad. Unfortunately the removal guys mixed my books with the "for sale" books and I can't now find my favourite recipe. So I shall improvise. We are heading to Saturday School's spring party later so it will be buffet lunch for us. It will be so nice.

Crickett - wow well done. My PER seems like a play in the park comparing to what you need to do :o

Claire - hope the tooth is starting to feel better

I got a book yesterday called Why we get fat and what to do about it. So far so good. I will report back when I have read more.

Thank you for all your kind wishes. I do feel relieved and I am aware that I need to keep going and get the final thing finished. I will do... but going to have a total weekend off. I couldn't have done it without you all. The Matrix totally rocks.

FW - I'm sorry... I didn't mention this yesterday - but congratulations of your good hospital results. :D

Hugs and positive vibes to everyone on the Matrix and special ones for those who need more. :D

Can I please ask a question about exercising? I have done a huge workout this morning. 1 hour of exercise. 30 minutes on the Wii Fit plus doing yoga and muscle workout and then 30 minutes on EA sports active... which frankly was a killer. I was sweating cobs by the end of it, so thought i would weigh myself and see how much weight i had lost. Bad move. I appear to have put on 5 pounds in 3 days. Hubby was telling me that it isn't a relevant weight... but it doesn't feel like that. Geez. 5 pounds in 3 days. Is that even possible? I had erm... been to the loo before the exercise, so that isn't the problem. I have not been drinking enough in the last couple of days so it might be water retention I suppose... but... :( So disappointed.

Does this mean that my life from here on in is going to no alcohol, and strictly lettuce?! Okay, sorry, that is totally melodramatic. I know that good food makes me feel better than crappy food, but it is nice to think that I can have them if I choose to have them. And I know that I made stupid decisions last week in my eating, so I am not surprised my weight isn't stable... but 5 pounds in 3 days!! I now weigh MORE than I did when I started this fitness phase. which is just a tad demotivating. :(

right, off to have a shower and get dressed and then make breakfast. Breakfast smoothie. Then I am going to make a pack up lunch for this afternoon both pre and post dress rehearsal... and then get my concert gear ready. :D Last concert of the season... and I can't wait! my vocal chords need a rest!!

    Have a fab weekend!

    Morning Ladies

Clootie - after Chiropractor would be fine - appointment is 11 - 12 so boogie on over feeling virtuous after.

Big Frog Today - Yup the back Doctor, although s spurt of tidying up and carpet cleaning (althoughMum is dong that) is also in order.

As for Grocery List Cheri - Mmmmmm!!!

Started squeezing my budget to find a Magic Fiver ever week which I set aside for Storecupboard buys.

First thing I did was hit Approved Foods and did a shared delivery with Clootie. When on there I bought "proper" food rather than convenience foods IYSWIM. Beans, pulses, grains, wraps, brad mix.

WE have a basic yearly plan of

Sunday - Something with Salmon, Roast or chicken.
    Monday - Rissotto somethig
    Tuesday - Grain/ Bean something
    Wednesday - Pasta Something
    Thursday - curry night
Friday - Eggie Tea (cos we have a late lunch) or HM burgers if hungry.
    Saturday - Pizza night

So for example - knowing we could have risotto 50 times per year at 150g rice per time means I buy 7.5 kg of risotto rice when I see it on offer. Got a 5kg bag for a fiver.

We love chickpeas and have hummus for lunch at least once per week - 1/3 bag at a time meant I ordered 16 bags from AF when they were 18p per bag.

Tomato stuff I covered earlier in the week - and of course we make our own bread so buy flour in bulk when it is on offer. Pasta is bought in 3kg bags from A**a"

So I built up my storecupboard of the staples - including Mr T ketchup at 21p which DS2 loves.

Now I am in the postion of shopping from my stores during my £1 pp per day challenge - because I am buying fresh stuff, fruit and veg, milk and eggs as we need it.

By my reconning I can easily feed the three of us for £500 each per year topping up my storecupboard only when staples are on a very good offer. The game is to see how long I can keep it below a pound.

I have a dedicated store cupboard BTW - everything is I there and every week I take out things from my shop that I need to replenish my kitchen cupboards.

I think the best place to start is to look at what you like to eat and then slowly start building up reserves of most frequently bought foods.

BTW I am now on UHT semi-skimmed milk as I can but i in bulk ad it keeps me out of the shops mid-week which has saved on th e"little things that add up"

Cricket - do NOT weigh yourself more than once a week. And TBH you're better of measuring. Workouts won't have an instant impact as you need to build muscle to burn fat, and muscle is heavier than fat. Often initial weight loss is caused by fluid loss as much as anything.

What you DO need to do is weigh and measure your food properly so you know how many calories you are taking in. This needs to be consistently lower than what you are using up by exercising. Online food diaries are good for this. There are lots of them around, and I think there are some free ones.
