  • Welcome to the fold Beencounting! I read the book of The Secret, and I am not sure how it could be put into DVD format. But I understand it is equally powerful in that way. Besides, if it was on DVD... could it help while the time away while you are ironing?! :D

Loving the new thread - and cos I'm off I can keep up with it! Have lurked on and off but struggle with those cold, dark winter days so am much more positive in these sunny ones so though I might join you this time.

Want to sort house, sort work, sort life and stop wasting time, money, effort - so pretty basic stuff really:rotfl:Would like to get fitter as well cos have dodgy back which might respond better to having less flab to support :o Already have the frog book but am bad at eating them and good at cloud watching instead. My 15 mins will be 15 mins of being outside as I love fresh air.

Wanted to say to Buffy, have been there, done that. Stopped my masters (also a teacher) just before I had to do dissertation - originally I started it to learn something about my leadership role and dissertation became as big as a whale on my shoulders and was a huge relief when I decided to stop (not 'give up' but 'stop' - made it a positive decision). Your tutor should be able to give advice about using your current credits - you could either carry on at a later date thus getting a couple of summer hols to get it licked if schoolwork is adding too much pressure, get it done and dusted now and tell school you will need some time if possible - sometimes heads will let you have time as it counts as cpd, ask about transferring your credits to a postgrad certificate/diploma which still shows you have been studying to develop your skills if you were looking at going for a new job.

A question...I haven't read 'The Secret' but have put it on my LF DVD list. Is this film any good or should I just get the book (I love reading, so no hardship there :)).

I was thinking what I could do today 'to make my heart sing', and have decided to spend 15 minutes in the garden. It's a beautiful day and a shame to spend all day indoors ironing...I seem to spend a lot of time with the ironing board ;).

    Welcome to Beencounting & Dorastar

The Secret is available as a free PDF file, I had it and sent it to lots of members after receiving it from someone else on the thread. Someone should be along shortly who still has it, and will be able to forward it to you. I lost it when my system crashed a while back.

Spent the after noon in Blairadam Forest. Taking photo's of the hounds foraging and splashing in the waterfall. That was my 2 hours of making my heart sing, it is breathtakingly beautiful there and only 5 minutes away, so perhaps I was being greedy.

Dinner is in the slowcooker, spicy meatballs in a homemade garlic and tomato sauce with onions and mushrooms, so just have to sort the pasta and sundried tomato bread, am famished from all the freshair and excercise. But for the 1st time in ages, I feel a sense of calm and content, so it can't be wrong, its all good. xx

ETA, my neighbour has just been in with some biscuits - lovely. She calls them Poor Mans Hobnobs lol.
There more like Oat cookies, but so delish (easy too) so have cobbled the recipe,
    Oat Crunchies

    6 ozs porridge oats
    5 ozs demerara sugar
    4 fl ozs vegetable oil
    1 egg
    half a teaspoon almond essence

Place the oats, sugar and oil in a bowl, mix well and leave to stand for an hour. Add the egg and almond essence and heat thoroughly. Place teaspoons of the mixture well apart on a greased baking sheet, or use baking parchment. Press flat with a damp fork.

Bake at 160 deg C/325 deg F/Gas 3 for 15-20 mins until golden brown. Leave to cool on the baking sheets for 5 mins and then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Gonna give there a bash later.

I hope you make the right decision for you Buffy. I started an OU degree years ago and had to give it up due to lack of funds. I know it's a really hard decision to make, I was 2 years into mine when I gave it up.

I've had a good birthday. Got lots of lovely presents and bought a couple of tops in town for £2 each (bargain). Just tucked into my chocolate birthday cake :). Off out for drinks tonight too so may get some more pressies :D

I hope you have all had a good day.

Hi chaps, would whoever has the Brian Tracey's book e-book please PM me? I have The Secret e-book somewhere if anyone wants it :)

I did my 15 mins of meditating before going to sleep last night and until OH woke me up by texting at 3:30am because he woke up (blooming man.....) I slept really well and felt more positive about life, perked myself up a bit as I have been feeling really paranoid and down in recent days.

Today has been great so far, swim and picnic with DD and hopefully a girly chum popping over for a cuppa any minute now. DD should be at a party but she says she's feeling poorly so is sitting on the other sofa with her swimming goggles on (being a space girl, naturally lol) watching Kung Fu Panda!! Strange girl.....

    Hello Ladies

Spend the WHOLE afternoon in the garden with my little Apprentices:D and I have realised that THIS is what makes my heart sing.

Both boys working alongside me - both taking detours off when something interesting catches their imaginations. The confidence they both have in chatting to neighbours and people who just pop in. Its a real privilige to be their Mother - I should always remember that.

They have both just polished off huge plates of dinner and the bath is running - so winding down time is coming.

Made a decision this afternoon - that although I would LOVE to be shot of the Big Horse Bank Debt, there are other things that need to happen now.

The bank is getting back what it has agreed I should pay plus £100 per month overpayment - so chasing my tail to pay them off sooner is just putting me under pressure when there are better things to spend my energy on.

So, between now and July 4th I will concentrate on creating our "school garden" and building the bedroom for DS2. That means that I can get to let rooms sooner rather than later (or have Matrix members pay a visit sooner :D)

The rental money can then be used to pay the bank off quicker without too much stress.

Hope that makes sense - and hopefully working in the garden will give me a lesson in patience ............. although I would dearly love to have it all now!!!!:rotfl:

Absolutely makes sense MG, and sounds like it's the right idea for you and your family. Well done! :T

Well done on answering all our questions Buffy! Sounds like it's helped you see things a little more clearly. Good advice there from Scottishlass :T Sounds to me like you'll be disappointed with yourself if you back out, and if you're nervous about submitting it sounds like you're lacking in confidence a bit and it might be that that's making you back off and not put the work in....
  • Thanks for the welcome Fantasia & Crickett and the suggestion re ironing/DVD :) could be a solution!

Kittikins if you could let me have the link to The Secret e-book that would be great, thanks.

I've also had a look at the link you posted Fantasia, thanks for this, it's all good stuff :).
