    Morning

Excellent news Souk, well done you! ~~~~~~vibes for your interview~~~~~~ how exciting!

(FW)))))) take it easy and get some rest today. Good luck for your test results.

Hope you're not sneakily peeking in Crickett! :rotfl:

And :rotfl: at MG being asked to pay for a Mr Big seminar :rotfl: I can just imagine :D :rotfl:

Working at home today. I've been really struggling with this lately - so much so that I'm contemplating going to the office an extra day or two a week - no small thing as it's a 4-5 hour round trip each day I go in. So today I need to prove to myself that I CAN work at home, efficiently and productively.

Am dressed and breakfasted, and I'm going to make a cuppa then head up to my attic, and I, like Crickett, and not going to pop in here until after 12 - so give me a good ticking off if you see me!

Welcome 40SM It is a bit of a mad house here sometimes, you know the kind of house where you were growing up and all of the kids wanted to shout about something all at once, some good, some bad and everybody helping? Yes the kind of house that we never appreciated when we were in the middle of it all and I bet some of you will recognise that happening with your Darling Son's and Darling Daughters :)

    :rotfl::rotfl:

    Hi Cheri ,

    Ladies,

I am looking forward with great excitement and anticipation to my holidays which have just been authorised. I am going to be looking for accommodation in London later (hope my favourite haunt is free) as I intend to head to the proms to see the Simon Bolivar Youth Orchestra performing Mahler 2 (plus a few other proms in the week). Living proof that people can set their mind to do anything their heart desires as this orchestra is made up of people from very humble backgrounds including street children. I heard all about their prom in 2007 and this years sold out in just hours. I, of course, will be joining the queue for the gallery on the day where I will meet up with all of the friends that I have made over the years whilst queuing. We will be eating strawberries and sushi and drinking champagne on the steps of the Albert Hall. Oh how good is life???? Now best go and book my accommodation but before I go check this out

I read last nights bit of the thread with interest, and came up with the following observations:

    1) FW clearly meant well, but I wonder if perhaps it is one of the very rare occasions when English not being her first language meant that her post came across badly? When I first read it I thought "Ouch - that's a bit smug!" and it also seemed to sum up perfectly Daffs comment earlier in the day about making sweeping generalisations. On reading her explanation and apology it became apparent that she meant something different to what she had said, effectively.
    2) Often on this thread if anything vaguely unpleasant comes up people hedge and skirt around the issue, talking of almost anything else other than confronting it, unless they are directly involved. There is no way that all the people skirting around something awkward DON'T have an opinion on it, but if they don't speak up and say so, those who are directly affected often feel that they have no support. This is true in real life as well - if you see or hear injustice sometimes the right thing to do is say "Hang on - that's not right!" and challenge it.
    3) It takes a huge amount of courage to say that - honestly - you have no interest in a permanent "society standard" relationship - I should know, I spent a good number of years feeling precisely that way and I applaud those who feel that way. My two convictions were that I wasn't interested in getting married, and I had no interest in owning my own home. Then I met MrEH.....:o The one that ISN'T going to change for me - I know this well - is that I have no wish or desire to have children. I love other peoples kids - adore my niece and nephew, but I'm simply not maternal. I've been attacked for this more times than I can count so I know all too well about making statements that society sees as unnatural in some ways. In the same way that "Society" says we should be in a partnership - and Souk and others feel differently, "society" also says we should want to have children, and I feel differently.
    4) Keep an open mind. That's everything on this one. See 4) above to understand why....!
    5) In real life, things aren't always bright, and cheery, and fluffy and happy. They are just NOT. The same is true of this thread. Positivity is lovely, but if you make anywhere a place where negativity is effectively banned you will lose people. The trick is to take that negativity, give sympathy for the person feeling that way, and then find a way of steering them out of those feelings without making them feel jollied along or patronised.

It is deliberately listed out like that as it's the way it appears in my head. It's not attended to be directed at any one person or any one person's posts or opinions, other than where I have directly named people. If you're not named, don't go jumping to the conclusion that it's targetting you - because it's not! (It's not all about you, you know! ;):rotfl:)

I feel better now. Right - off to deliver some Avon orders and go and whinge at Tesco about the THIRTY FIVE FLIPPING MINUTES I stood in their petrol station last night while they failed to sort out the fact that they had charged my card (the wrong card!) twice. I'll feel even better after that!

I shall try to catch up on my lunch break (after I have called water, gas and electricity suppliers with old and new meter readings - my frog for the day :))

Just to say that something really spooky happened yesterday. I went with the removal guys to take the first load of stuff to the new place, saw a cat in the garden and went to have a chat with her. So I asked her what is her name and got a reply: Clio. I used to drive one and I recently met a dog with that name so I completely dismissed it.

Then I went to take the second load and met the daughter of my neigbours and got chatting. Asked if they have a cat and she said that they have two. Asked what kind and then said that I thought I met one of them, described her and she said. Oh yes that is Clio  So I am well and truly spooked now but on the other hand my confidece has got such a boost.

Loving the new place, it is very friendly house. I have a strong feeling that it is where I am meant to be at this point of my life. Living in the middle of chaos (i.e. boxes and bags) but couldn't be happier.
