Memorygirls - The Matrix Re-inspired

Options
So here we are again – setting off on a new thread as we have exhausted the post count on our previous thread “The Memorygirl’s The Matrix Re-loaded” – but as you can see we are still keeping up with our Matrix inspired theme.

Quick catch up to help you get up to speed with some of the chat occurring:

When we get stuck – we revert to doing stuff in 15 minute “chunks” – because we believe that we can do anything for 15 minutes.

Loads of us have read “The Secret” and we are taking baby steps towards being more positive thinkers and having better expectations that the universe will provide for us what we “need” if not what we “want”.

We are all a work in progress.

We also talk a lot abut “Frogs” – that’s from a book by Brian Tracey called “Eat That Frog” and its about doing the scariest thing on your to-do list first thing in the day to get it over and done with.

We have a private forum (called The Matrix) which was set up to keep all the chat about our businesses, start-up and otherwise off this forum so as not to breach its rules. This is a secure, invisible to the internet, forum so anything we say or explore on there is confidential.

So what’s going to be our challenge on this thread? ............. well lots of us have had a pretty rough time through the winter and staring this new year. So today being Easter Sunday I dedicated to being “New Start Sunday” for our Matrix members.

So today and for the next 30 days ladies your challenge, should you choose to accept it ( am I mixing up my movies here?) is ......................................

Do something for 15 minutes that makes your Heart Sing !!

.............. and then if you feel so inclined come onto this thread and share something DFW and inspirational.

Here’s to a positive and supportive DFW journey with the “Matrix Re-inspired”

So pour yourself a cuppa, pull up a chair and join in – although be warned................

WE CAN STILL REALLY TALK !!!!!

  • Thanks for this MG. And a great title Fantasia. I always feel that Easter is a new start for things... largely due to the religious significance it has for me and my family. So, this 30 day challenge really hits home with me!

So the thing I am going to do for 15 minutes every day that makes my heart sing? Well, it is going to be one of two things (depending on the day!) Crafts - crochet, paper, sewing, patchwork, whatever... or Singing. :D I love it. I'm pretty good at it. And I do it loads!! :D

Last night hubby and I went to the Easter Vigil Mass. It was a loooooong old thing. Started at 8 and didn't finish until 10.35! However, it was an honour to sing in the scratch choir, and I even managed to "sight read" some plain chant and a Monteverdi motet. For someone who cannot read music to save her life... I am quite pleased with that!! :D:D It helped that I had a lovely person sitting next to me who is always note perfect, so I was kind of a milisecond behind her when I sang so I was already on the right note!! :D

Easter Sunday lunch is always special in our house. So, we are having roast shoulder of lamb with herbs and honey, served with a bulghar wheat and roasted vegetable salad. The best thing? Everything is coming from the store cupboard or Freezer. And then, I might do some light gardening this afternoon. Or not. I might be asleep on the sofa! :D

Have a wonderful Easter day my dear Matrix. :D "See" you tomorrow!!

Well I have just enjoyed a break in my "soon to be garden" sitting in the sun and enjoying a pot of freshly brewed expresso (I save a packet of beans in the freezer for a special treat)

The sun is out and the sky is periwinkle blue (makes a change fromthe mizzle yesterday)

The kids got three eggs each from friends and neighbours - and £2 each for "icecreams" from Granny. My local Ice-cream shop does half size cones for 30p for the kids so that is 7 ice-creams or so each (they can choose when they want to make a special trip)

Going to spend some time in the garden (to make up for being inside all yesterday) ............ but with lunch being some soup and HM bread, and dinner being chicken in thyme, honey and lemon with roasted veggies and ................... thanks crickett:D a bulghar wheat salad with fresh herbs and greens from the garden. DS2 wants to make a cake with his butterfly and flower silicn moulds so will use the last 2 of Clooties eggs to do that.

    Today should be a NSD:j

    Spends to report yesterday though.

    4 huge tomatoes 99p
    SR flour 57p
    Bananas 47p
    Crisps £1.87

    Total of £3.90

Off to update my signature - then back out to the magic garden

OK - wee story to share ....

Diego Dorgi has a pig's ear. Tora wants said pig's ear. Diego's attitude - Go Spin.....

Tora the Tart then lies on her back in front of Diego - slides along to tempt him with ladybits - when he's being "interested" she grabs pig's ear & runs

Where did she learn to do that ?- wisnae me - honest.....:D

    :rotfl: Clootie!! Nice intro MG.

My new start Sunday goal is to finish my fieldwork in style, keeping up motivation, momentum and positivity for the 5 weeks that I have left. Fieldwork makes my heart sing.

After these 5 weeks my frog will be establishing a regular writing routine like Firewalker's. Going to start with 1 hour freewriting first thing in the morning and build up from there.

The other things I have to do are - prepare a 3500 word presentation for the beginning of July, and finish the first proper draft chapter of my thesis by the end of September. And of course, get married! :D

    Morning All

Just sitting in the garden, relaxing and catching up with everyone. (Can that be my 15 mins that makes my heart sing!)

Trouble with sitting in the garden relaxing is I keep looking round at stuff that needs doing and the relaxing bit starts to ebb away. So i am going to go and do something for 15 mins and see what I can achieve!

Christos voskrese, my friends (this means Christ has risen and is what Bulgarians say on Easter day; the answer is 'Voinstina voskrese' and means 'Indeed, he has risen'),

MG, count me in of course. But I think I skipped the difficult winter so who knows what the Universe will deliver (my Balkan caution injected here).

Lara, Happy Birthday! And one hour free writing is perfectly fine. The longer time comes later when one has to start molding this into proper text. Go for it - it is a frog worth eating.

    Morning,

I hope you dont mind me joining your new thread. I have been a long time lurker and think nows the right time to join. :j

A little about myself. I am in my forties and married. We have four grown up sons who have all left home. My youngest son has his own family now so I am a grandma, a role which makes my heart sing. My next to youngest son is currently in Afghanistan and has been since October. He is due back in a little over two weeks and I am beside myself with excitement. I work a couple of days a week ( boo hoo) but spend the rest of the week doing what I enjoy - being mum to my dog Sidney, jogging, thrifting and looking after my home and garden.

I have been up early today visiting the local car boot sale and have made some fabulous purchases. I was delighted to see a huge brand new Tefal stock pot at £1.50 which I snapped up. It will be wonderful for making large portions of chilli, curry etc either for family meals or for cooking for the freezer. My home is a bit of a hotch potch of styles but I love looking out for odd bits and pieces at car boot sales, charity shops etc.

Off to do a bit more car booting so hope to join you all later with an update. Happy Easter !!

    Hello Sidneysmum:wave:

Sounds like you got a result at the car boot - my desire for this year is to find a maslin pan for making jam and chutney (I use my pressure cooker base but its not the same.

My Apprentices are in the garden DS1 watering seedlings and DS2 collecting snails in a bucket, whilst I grab a quick cuppa inside. I will walk the snails to their new home later in the day. I hope he loves collecting slugs in the same way because - Yuck yuckety yuck!!!!

Especially in Lara's honour - here's my Granny's recipe for Ginger nut biscuits. Sorry its in old measurements - but that's what she baked in IYSWIM:D

    GINGERNUTS

    3oz golden syrup
    4 oz marg
    5 oz sugar

Melt these ingredients together and stir into

    1 heaped tsp baking soda
    2 heaped tsp ground ginger
    12 oz SR Flour
    1 beaten egg.

Roll heaped tsps of the mix into balls and flatten slightly on your baking sheet (I use non-stick parchment but Granny's tray was so black it was non-stick in it's own right)

Bake for 15/20 mins at 170 - they will spread out a bit. Leave to cool on tray slightly.

Lift onto a wire tray to finish cooling and they will crisp on up.

Now we need a competition to come up with the best Lara inspired name to re-christen these a la Twinks Hob nobs :rotfl:
