ask your doc for Paroxatine.0

Thanks Rufus, But I thought Paroxatine was for depression & panic attacks and can make some people suicidal. ???
This was quoted on the BBC Panorama prog.0 -
It would be oh so easy if we could all pinpoint the cause - but there is no definitive cause in many cases.
I know now at what point in the month I should avoid cheese, chocolate, red wine and citrus, and I do, but all that may do is lessen the severity. I've had some absolute corkers after chocolate or cheese. However, for at least a week (probably longer) after a migraine, I know I can eat all the chocolate and cheese with no ill effects at all!?! What's that all about?
Why, when I was twice pregnant, did I not need to think about what I ate at all? Not a single headache. It was bliss.
Why, before I was pregnant, was there no pattern to the headaches at all and now it is predictable?
My family history seems to bear out that when I reach the menopause or decide to have my ovaries removed prematurely I will benefit from less or even no migraines. However, my father also suffered terribly and I can't see how that can be connected with my female hormones! Confused - you bet I am!
Best advice has always been to look at your diet, moods/feelings and activities first. Keep diaries, then if necessary, progress though the various types of medication until you find something that suits you. Don't be afraid to go back to the doctors and try something else. The nature of migraine is that there is no single cause - and therefore, no single treatment that works for everyone.
My condolences to all migraine sufferers. I pray there will be a cure soon, as I worry what I may have passed on to my two beautiful little girls. Must stop now and go to bed... irregular bedtimes are also a no no!Money can't buy you happiness, but it does bring you a more pleasant form of misery.

It’s prescribed for a list of things as long as your arm - perhaps I should have said 'ask your Dr about Paroxatine' as way of a full investigation of all your options.
When I read through the transcript of this programme at the time, I felt it - rather unfairly - only presented one side of a pretty complicated story. After checking out the other side of the story, I found out that a majority of people who were having suicidal thoughts, were under 18's. Although I've not researched the subject in detail, I understand that this may be as the still developing mind, is not compatible with selective serotonin uptake inhibitor treatments. My golfing partner (a Dr) says the GMC issued (voluntary) guidelines last year that the drug should not be prescribed under 18's in the default 20mg dose. Watch for it being licensed in a smaller dose in late 2005.
I'm sure there are plenty of success stories out there who have been prescribed this drug and fully recovered from their symptoms (hint hint)
Also, ask you Doctor about Imigran. Watch him / her twitch uncomfortably as their practices prescription budgets go through the roof !! My mum used it for severe Migraine with great success.0 -

;D For a minute there Rufus I thought you were giving me subtle hint to top meself ;D ;D, no not really, I like a joke.
I've also heard of the Imigran but never tried that, I was on one which I can't remember the name and, what made me laugh about it was it said to take 20mins BEFORE an attack ???
thats know good when you wake up with them.
I will look up that Imigran and see what it says and then as you suggest ask the Dr about it.
By the way I love golf0 -

Maybe that was a bit subtle - the success story was myself. A few hairy side effects, but they were outweighed by the gains.
However, everyones different...0 -
