MIGRAINES!!!!

There are a number of studies that have looked into the prophylactic properties of a number of drugs with respect to migraines.
If you want to read some go to http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi which is the URL for PubMed - a bibliographic database of the abstracts from over 4,500 biomedical journals since 1960. Just type in "migraine prophylactic"
One cheap and easy "drug" that keeps popping up time and time again is magnesium.
There is also a scientific basis as to why a lack of magnesium in the diet can cause some types of migraines and a number of the studies have shown that upto 50% of patients can achieve a reduction in migraines by taking magensium supplements.
I can't say its a cure for all ills but for some of you out there it may reduce the severity or occurences of migraine0 -
my osteopath resolved mine, although i always thought they were from chocolate etc, they were actually from an imbalance in my neck vertebrae.....
I suffered from migraines every week until I went to a chiropractor for problems I have with my wrist. Turns out that my neck vertebrae were out of alignment. I now go to the chiropractor every 3 months and rarely get migraines.
When I get one now I find that they tend to be triggered by external stimuli like strong unpleasant smells, bright sunlight and stress. And white winebut I'm okay with red
!
If I feel one coming on I take a couple of Tylenol (painkillers which we got OTC in Canada) or whack on some of that 4head solid stick thing. No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.0 -
That sounds interesting cas must try that, the 4head stick
I have a couple of cousins that live in canada do you think they would be able to send me some of that Tylenol, is it available all over canada ???
Or is there a thing about posting tablets, don't want a drug ring if you know what I mean.0 -
Hi Pat
Seems to widely available in most drug stores across Canada in the same way Anadin is here.
Don't know about getting it posted - I'm sure they'll be some sort of regulation against it since you can't buy it here. I get my aunt who stays in Toronto to bring over a big bottle whenever she's coming over for a visit or a ask friends and workmates to bring me back some if they're going on holiday to Canada.
I think the reason it works for me is because the active ingredient (acetaminophen) is different from the usual ones we get here.

As for the 4head stick don't put it on if you're outside as your forehead goes all cold and tingly - it's such a weird feeling!!! Kinda like the way your mouth goes if you eat mints and then take a drink of ice cold milk!!!No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.0 -
Tylenol is also available all over the USA over the counter.Born to shop;)0
