    Damn good idea imo. Easier for plod to keep tabs on the scuzz that decide to flout not paying insurance or tax or getting an mot etc. Simple then if the reg plate details are out of date car should not be on road full stop.

    Some of our european cousins have similar way of doing thing dont they ? I know of one euro country that only has 1 manufacturer of number plates cant remember which one though....doh !

    I didn't say it wasn't a good idea, just that the extent of the changes would take so long to implement, the moment will have passed, and it will be too late.

    The Police can already flag up cars with no tax and insurance from number plate recognition. It takes mille seconds to check. Why have special number plates when the equipment they use, can check it?

    You could check a street full of cars in a minute or two. Car not registered, call the removal truck.
