2 speeding fines and currently on 6 points = unblemished driving record.

Thats the dimmest comment of the week prize right there.
    congrats.
As most of the insurance companies don't give a monkeys about SP30's, exceeding a posted limit is nothing.....every single last driver out there has done it.

Insurance companies do in fact time a dim view on two speeding convictions, most view one speeding conviction as a minor discretion with no or a relatively small loading. This is because they accept most people speed at times, they expect people with one conviction to learn from their mistake and improve their driving. However two speeding convictions indicates (To an Insurer) that either the person is a habitual speeder and / or they have not learnt their lesson.

Insurers will apply a fairly significant loading (Some will decline to offer cover) for people with two or more speeding convictions. This is on the basis of they are more likely to be involved in accidents and the damage caused can be more significant

If you are ever misfortunate enough to suffer mental health issues and lose your grip for while, let's you hope you don't get someone with as caring an attitude as your's eh.

    Ye Gods!
Lets see if you can be as understanding when your Wife / Husband is killed by an uninsured driver, and you're left with several children, and a mortgage you can no longer afford.

I'm sure the victims will be VERY understanding.

I am not defending anyone here, but just because someone doesn't have insurance, it doesn't mean they will have an accident, I was running on no insurance for about 6 weeks because the insurance company cancelled my policy for no notification of no claims, they cancelled it via email , and as it happens I was changing ISP at the time, only found out when I broke down, and no I didn't have any accidents!

And by the way its cold comfort for the family of someone killed in accident if the third party is insured!
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

Isn't the whole point of insurance that of 'in case you have an accident'?
"I got away with it" is pretty irresponsible.

And no...people suffering the loss of a family member won't be helped phsychologicaly by insurance, but they will have the financial problems that ensue dealt with.
I know....there are some ready to point out that there is protection in the insurance industry to cover for uninsured drivers, but you and I are paying for it.

It's not the fact I got away with it, just pointing out that sometimes it's not entirely your fault you are not insured, in my case I paid for my insurance in full for the year, I gave them full details of my existing insurance including policy number and sent them a copy of my no claims as soon as I got it, they then claimed that they never received it, funny that as it was sent recorded, also they didn't write to me but sent an email and the payment back to my card was not received until complained, so if I was stopped who's fault is it ?

Funny that the Financial Obudsman didn't when I complained to them, and said company were taken to task about cancelling a policy via email

You'd still have a fight to have your points removed. It may have been bad practice to cancel via email but legally you were guilty as you had no cover.;)

I hear what your saying Taffy and your situation would have been extremely unfortunate, but is no insurance not one of those absolute offences, you either have it or you don't? So therefore guilty or not guilty.

In your case your mitigation would just lead to admonishment or lesser punishment.
