I didnt think it had anything to do with how much your getting, just surely if your ill enough to be receiving incapacity then you cant be receiving carers allowance to care for someone else?

2 people on DLA can receive carers allowance for each other.

An example is 2 people can be ill but can help each other with the things either can't do, foe example, i have physical disability and need attention throughout the day given by my wife whilst a partner may need supervision when outdoors throughout the day for mental health problems.

if she helps me to walk, i'm helping her with supervision-both entitled.
Forums can be/are a good guide to entitlement and it is good practice to back it up with clarification from the relevant department/specialist with written confirmation to safeguard yourself.

Have you been talking to my wife?

When I retired a while ago, we each decided what chores we would each do and which ones would be joint.
Both lists were equal in length. Now after 2 years my list is twice as long as hers!! She can't use her hands, can't stand for more than 3/4mins without having to sit down she can't even bend!

How long does my list have to get/hers get shorter for me to be her carer? - and don't say claim AA, tried that and got nowhere because of the lack of medical support! Mind you I wonder if I took my list to the doc and showed him exactly what I have to for her! uummmmmm!!!

Unfortunately Diolch CA is only payable with a qualifying benefit.

if you feel either of your health has deteroriated since you last claimed try again.

You should see your GP at least quarterly, if he doesn't know the problems he can't help with a claim.

DWP tend to ask the GP for medical evidence and if you are unknown he will state so accordingly.

You both need to go to the GP, tell him all the conditions and what your wife can't do.

he may want to carry out some tests or refer to physio or pain management but do apply again and get help with filling the form in as people tend to underestimate their needs and are not sure of the criteria.

    Good Luck (Pob Lwc)

Ah I didn't know that CA didn't stand alone.

Both of us have deteriorating health conditions. The GP knows what is wrong with us both. We both have a long and extensive history with the GP. We both have confirmed diagnoses and receive medication for them all. The wife is currently undergoing further tests with the Liver transplant team in London and I see my consultants for my problems every 4/6 weeks. Neither of us will improve, both of us suffer from progressive diseases.

There are no more tests that the GP can carry out - everything is in the hands of our consultants.

It is only about 8/10 weeks ago that I put in a claim for DLA for me and a claim for AA for the wife. We both got a knock back in mid March. There's no point in putting another claim in really as there isn't much more that could be put on them that I didn't put on the first lot.

And yes my list gets longer by the day!!

Don't worry, we still keep smiling and we have each other which is a lot more than some have.

If your wife is old enough to claim attendance allowance then she's too old for a transplant, the upper age for transplants is 60.
