Congratulations on the cheque, although receiving it must also be tinged with sadness. Remember, though, that your granny wanted you to have the money and I'm sure she would be so happy to know you were putting it to good use.
Good luck for the wedding tomorrow!"Green pastures are before me,

Ditto to all that
Hope the wedding goes well - I did a few with a flute quartet when I was at Uni and some people really did make things difficult! (dear brides, do tell your musicians if you're planning to be 'fashionably late' so we don't have to play the same things four times over ). I'm sure you'll be fine.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Which are worse to deal with - brides or brides' mothers?"Green pastures are before me,

I have been very lucky and only had nice people to deal with - the worst thing is when people are indecisive, let you know their music choices/special requests late, haven't thought about where to put you etc.
venue staff are the main sticky issue for me at the moment - they just don't get why I don't want to take my £xxxxx harp and play outside if the weather is even remotely questionable, or if it is baking hot or windy
I have had a couple of brides mothers who have booked me as a surprise for their daughter and this always worries me a little, as I know for sure that if my mum picked my music for my wedding, it would NOT be what I wanted :rotfl: and she is a professional musician!
(mind you, she is sensible and understands that music choices are personal, so wouldn't choose for me
)
Most people are very honest and if they don't know what they want, just ask for recommendations and I make some suggestions. Most people have been lovely on the day - and I am doing a wedding in September where i have been invited to join in the party after :rotfl: I might say yes if they fix me up....mind you on second thoughts after my friend's wedding, this might not be such a good idea

Just had a look at your blog. Great name! Will you be putting some music up there? Is the picture of the harp actually your harp? It is gorgeous! I will look forward to reading more."Green pastures are before me,

Nice blog indeed.. I'm following you

I think it was generally stressy fussy brides that got on our nerves about weddings, but I guess if there's ever an occasion to be fussy about... usually it was fun, and the free drinks afterwards are nice!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -

thanks all
yes that's my harp, forgot I hadn't posted about it but played for a ceremony in a castle a couple of weeks back - it was stunning, probably the most beautiful venue I've been to, with incredible acoustics and atmosphere. Dad came with me because the stairs were horrendous, and he was listening in the basement - it's massively tall keep and he could hear every note
(google Hedingham Castle if you are feeling curious!)
I need to have a think about how everything will fit together as I have a myspace page as well with photos, and will be adding music to that too. I will have a blog, myspace and a website too, and am contemplating twitter as well but not sure what that will add yet :rotfl:
I hope to use my blog to write about my musical thoughts, plans and adventures really, and go into a bit more detail about that than I do on here, and keep on here for tracking money and life and things. Hopefully the blog will allow me to 'create' my artistic/musical self, if that makes sense and doesn't sound too up my own  - I know what I mean anyway!
Had a really, really good practice tonight and for some reason, I feel really physically relaxed. I did some Davina tonight for the first time in ages so have had a good stretch, that could be it. I am working on some stuff that has been notorious for tying my poor tendons in knots in the past, and while it wasn't a breeze tonight, it did go much better than ever before, which was incredible. So I am very chuffed with that
stayed off the pop tonight and am still on T no G. Early start tomorrow (well, considering it's the weekend) as i need to be on the road by 10am
but will be nice to get home. Don't laugh but I am having a Princess Diaries binge tomorrow night, 1 and 2. Then if I am still awake it will be Pride and Prejudice. The ultimate in comfort telly
what a day! :j Am off to bed in a bit - off to read some more Keef. how exciting is my life......0 -
LHG the harp is beautiful, love the picture.
Do u keep a written diary? My dad bought me a really nice one at Christmas, he said it was for logging those big/special events in life so I have it to look back on when I'm old. Apparently the paper preserves the ink so it doesn't fade with time. I haven't yet written anything but I look forward to doing so. I know nowadays ppl log their every move on fb,twitter, blogs etc which is great but it's nice to also have a journal just for you.
Hope that makes sense, I'm on the iPhone and it's not to easy to read back!!0 -
Hi Lionheartedgirl - hope you don't mind me butting in

I started to read your thread whilst at work on Friday, but thought better of it and actually got some work done instead!! So, I've been lazing in bed this morning and just got caught right up to date.
I haven't read your previous thread/alias so I'm unsure of your whole back story, however what I have read has really inspired me. Even since you started this new thread you seem to have come so far, with regards to every area of your life. Your social diary puts me to shame, and makes me want to do more for myself. You seem to have the balance of debt management/having a life worked out perfectly! I'm working on it, but seriously struggling with having a life, which I can tell is become wearing on my friends.
And well done you on your bravery with the man front. Mr P sounds like a bit of a well-meaning scatty brain, but at least you are not putting all your eggs in one basket, and sound very open to other possibilities, going so far as to make enquiries to new potential mates, something I don't think I have ever done, and don't think I would ever have the confidence to do!!
If you have no objections, I will subscribe (I have now learnt how to do that!!) and follow your inspirational journey, int he hope I can eventually get myself into a similar state of being
