...considering opening an Egg account and have made more trips to the petrol station!...
Egg account (or Egg Savings account) is easy to set up on the Internet and paying into it using the debit card is even easier...

    1. create an internet account here

    2. then start the savings account form here

When you're asked "Have you applied for an Egg Card/Loan/Savings account or Egg Pay before?" say YES and enter your logon details created at 1.
If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.

  • Heres how to be a modern day Robin Hood and rob the rich and give to the poor! Just donate £1.01 to a charity e.g. red nose day from your save the change account using your card. Courtesy of LLoyds TSB the charity gets £1.01 and 99p of that is paid by Lloyds. :T

I applied to "save the change" online last week. I have all the accounts there, but no save the change activity is showing yet. I have plenty of £xx.01 transactions on my account, but none have saved any change. Any idea on how long it takes to get working?
I registered online on 31st, rang up on the 5th to complain that I didn't see any activity regarding STC, (they re-registered on my behalf in the end, presumably using the form I'd used on the 31st) but had first STC transaction on online statement on the 6th (dated 5th.)
    Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries
  • Has anyone used their Lloyds debit card to pay off a Sainsbury's credit card yet?

It's the only credit card I've got to pay off and fifty x £1.01 seems a lot! There's no way Sainsbury's can penalise me for doing that is there?

I tried paying an American Express bill in £1.01 installments but apparently you can only make one Visa payment online in any three day period, so that's out.

I haven't got an Egg savings account or paypal account unfortunately.

Thanks so much for that Grumpycrab. I've now opened an Egg savings account online!

Just for anyone thinking of doing the same, the savings account is set up instantaneously and you can start making £1.01 payments from your Lloyds Visa card to it straightaway.

One word of warning, if you've ever had an Egg credit card or any other product from them and accessed it online, they'll expect you to remember your log in details from then, even if you've shut the product down subsequently. You get three attempts at remembering your old log in password and then it locks you out! However, if you phone Egg on 01384 264226, they'll update your security over the phone (they take you through your mother's maiden name, you don't need the old product details) and you can then apply for the savings account straightaway online.
