I think on this one it's a big thumbs down to Martin. Posters had mentioned this offer, so if you follow the forums you would know. Putting it out on the newsletter really ups the ante, but saying it on telly is just full on stupid. Origins could never be able to honour every request for a full size freebie publicised on this scale. This has just created a great number of peed off punters and done Origins no favours at all. Martin has just gone down in my opinion in a big way.
  • When Martin contacted Origins did he SAY that he had / was going to feature the promotion in his e-mail which reaches over 5 million people and did he TELL them he was going to feature it on TV as well??

The people who ORIGINALLY knew about it were their Facebook fans and subscribers , but then 'all hell broke loose' when it was announced on here and there is no way they could cope with the demand as it definitely sounds like they weren't EXPECTING it ...

Not EVERYONE knows about MSE and I honestly don't think that Origins knew or were prepared for the fact that Martin Lewis is so big as in his e-mail following and TV features as they DEFINITELY were not aware of or expecting it to be featured on TV

What I am saying is really he should have ASKED them if it was okay to feature on TV to the whole nation and feature it on MSE in his e-mail first!!!

I doubt he really cares about regular forum users being the ones to get deals; surely from where he's sitting it's more important to have really great deals to list on the TV spot because that looks good for him. I wish he wouldn't, too, but I can see why he does. I've never seen the spot, but I guess someone watches it, lol. I do think it was unfair to staff, too.

For my part, I guess I got lucky as I went in at around 1pm and got one. There was a line, though, and they only had Checks and Balances left (which was fine by me).

Thinks its backfired this time coz instead of ''making him look good'' its actually done the OPPOSITE!!!

He's made a bit of a fool of himself this time and I reckon some people have lost respect for him - I don't like the fact that this whole thing smacks of self serving!!

i.e using the promotion to promote himself!!

( And I bet Origins counter staff are his number one fans now! ) ;) lol
  • Thing is it is a product with a retail value of £16 so OF COURSE they wouldn't have enough for the 5 million e-mail subscribers and nation of morning TV watchers across the country!!

They weren't giving away hundreds at each outlet - How on earth would they be able to AFFORD to do that - It was a promotion to PROMOTE Earth month and recycling and the staff said it was meant to be for their subscribers only ( which doesn't make sense as Martin did contact them about it )

But ''enough to go round'' and ''not run out by FRIDAY'' means they would have to give out TONS of these and probably go bankrupt lol

Its not a free SAMPLE offer which in that case I can see companies giving out MORE ( and having LESS INTEREST! )

I just think Origins weren't prepared for the onslaught because they didn't know about how popular MSE and Martins money tips are ( and obviously weren't expecting the promotion to be broadcast on TV!! )

So Origins under estimated MSE and Martin OVER estimated Origins!!! LOL

Just wondering: how many "friends" do they have on facebook? if all of them took up the offer without anyone from MSE/Morning TV joining in, would they still have enough?

    Anyone got any numbers?

OVER 7,000 fans on Facebook - And the promotion was posted on there ... So alot of / most of the Facebook fans did not get one either and are none too pleased!

So , gosh , with the number of Facebook fans already PLUS the MSE hoards most people stood NO chance but like I said once I'd seen it posted on MSE I knew I had no chance!!!

People were queuing outside Boots and John Lewis from 8am and I'm simply NOT willing to do that for a free cleanser ... Especially as they would probably run out JUST as I get to the counter ( happened to me @ a free wine tasting which had been heavily promoted too! lol )

I got to Debenhams in Leeds at 11 to be told they had run out of the 65 they had been allocated because it had been mentioned on TV.:(
