Thanks Mr Lewis - NOT!Sorry I'm normally a big fan of you but thanks to you putting it on tv us regular Origins users who had planned to take advantage of this deal are not unable to. I am sure origins intended their regular customers to be rewarded..

So what if you're a regular origins customer? I'm a regular clinique customer, but that doesn't mean I begrudge others for taking advantage of their special offers.

Its just the way it was done ... Even Origins themselves where not prepared for the onslaught of people this created and the real Origin fans actually missed out!!

It seems to me that this isn't the case...

If Origins had intended the promotion to reward their regular customers... they would have simply stipulated that the product to be handed in for the free cleanser must be an empty Origins product... since they didn't, one assumes it is an attempt to widen their customer base to people who don't regularly buy their products.

It was originally meant to be on just tomorrow but for some reason they started it today instead to run ( 'supposedly' ) for 2 days

..... And there is a difference between widening their customer base and SWAMPING their counters! lol
  • Origins themselves don't seem too happy about it .. ''Due to unexpected tv coverage this morning''....

I don't think they were expecting over 5 million people to receive an e-mail about it when they only had a real handful of cleansers in shops!!! ;)

PLUS then to have it TELEVISED to the whole nation!!!

They should have been prepared - the press office were contacted in advance:

From the Beauty Deals blurb for this offer:
The offer is part of Earth Month, which runs every April. The Origins press office hasn't confirmed how many freebies are available but we've been assured there are plenty and shouldn't run out before Friday

They should be grateful for the free advertising

I am an Origins customer - and regularly take my empties in to them for their recycling inititive - they even posted it on their FB page.

They have over 7000 'likes' on Origins UK on FB but if each store only had a 'few' they weren't even prepared for all the people they advertised to THEMSELVES taking up the offer - and they also should have had an alternative as it seemed to imply on the FB message:
RECYCLE WITH ORIGINS FOR EARTH MONTH! FREE full size cleanser* when you recycle your empty cosmetic products, regardless of brand, at all Origins counters nationwide on 21st and 22nd April. *Maximum of one cleanser per person, while stocks last. Choice of cleanser subject to availability

I was also told (at the HOF Birmingham counter) that the instore SA's were only told it was a one-day promotion - so despite it being advertised as 2 days they already knew they didn't have enough to cover themselves.

I was first in house of Fraser this morning, no wait , no consultation as SA wasn't interested but it suited me fine, put half empty in bin and walked away with check balances wash in 30s. Used it already and it feels great! Fab freebie!
  • I'm just disappointed as knew about it when it was all relatively 'quiet' but KNEW as soon as it was on MSE that my daughter and I wouldn't stand a cat in hells chance! lol

None left in Aberdeen John Lewis - ran out by 10am and Origins staff said Boots in Bon Accord had run out even earlier. People were apparently queuing to get into Boots.

And yes, "TV programme", "Lorraine Kelly" and "Martin Lewis" all came up in the reason for "unexpected overwhelming response".

    Disappointed much :(
