    Hi

I do have some sympathy for the employees, but it was pretty obvious this was always going to happen ..... how many times has the RaR sector been classified as a 'make hay whilst the sun shines' sector ? .... the real issue is that there's still money to be made even at the lower tariff rates, yes the sector will have to work a little harder in selecting the most appropriate properties and be more agressive in their product sourcing, but that's what happens in business ... 'the only constant is change' - (Heraclitus ~535-475BC)

There is also the possibility that much of this is Carillion posturing on behalf of the installation industry whilst the Government's consultation is taking place ..... ..... not nice for the employees though if this is the case.

  • Well, a very quick, albeit somewhat prepared reply I think contained the following:

"All our customer are in a queue to be installed as soon as possible as soon as we have availability we will be in touch to offer a date but because of this at present we cannot guarantee a date to any customer. Our installation team are trying to get as many customers installed as possible and to give as much notice as possible. I know it can prove difficult for some homeowners, and if you would like to be withdrawn from the queue we will understand entirely.

Thank you very much for your patience. "

They also mentioned that they are taking out an injunction, as are two other companies, against the Government and are very "upset" by the situation as well. While I do sympathise with that, it does not beat good customer service and information discemination and a little more of that would be a good thing for all of us. I wish them well with their efforts.

I am replying to say that I wish to remain on the list and will post any further developments.
  • Blimey! That was a quick reply, though presumably stock.

    I'm still waiting to hear...
  • No reply to my "urgent" email. Have re-sent.

Tanya, can you confirm if received.

Scaffold still here. Have called scaffold company and they have not been told to remove it. My neighbour is furious. I spoke to Rohit on wednesday who assured me that a mail to instruct the scaffolders to remove it would be sent within 5 minutes.

My wifes hairdresser is here right now. We recommended Homesun to her. Her installation has been cancelled by Homesun.
  • We applied for a free installation in August, after the all clear from the surveyor the paperwork got signed; we supplied everything we were asked to. After a couple of months I phoned them to find out when we were going to get our installation, they said they were still waiting for the mortgage company to finalise the paperwork, so we got on to the mortgage company, they said they hadn’t received anything from homesun. Went back to homesun they said they need a marriage certificate, even though Warren the sales guy took a photo of it. We sent our marriage certificate and then took it to the mortgage company just in case. Got the confirmation letter on the 8th November, All done yay! Phoned homesun to get an installation date, 16th November for the scaffolding, 17th for the installation. I duly cleared the area for the scaffolding and booked the Friday off work for the installation. And jumped for joy! The time flew by and on the Thursday my wife called me at work "they have cancelled the installation" Gutted! Phoned up homesun for another installation date, they told me an installation team will call us within two weeks to confirm a date.
I started to panic, time was running out. I phoned them the next date to get a rough idea when it might happen, homesun put me through to Brit Solar in Bristol, I asked when they could do it, they informed me that logistically they could not do an installation in Dorchester because they were based in Bristol and that they had already referred us back to homesun?? So I phoned homesun and at this point I was getting increasingly anxious but they assured me that we would get our installation they were 100% sure it would happen, they would get another installation team to do it and call me shortly with an installation date. Ok all sorted!
A week went by and I phoned them again, they put me through to an installation team "Hello Brit Solar how can I help" Again I enquired when my installation was going to happen thinking that they had agreed to do it after all. "Sorry Sir we can’t do your installation you are out of our area” ???? !!!!!!. Am I dreaming is this deja vu!!!....Guess who I called? I insisted to speak to someone who knew what was going on. Explained everything to a lady called Emma, she said she would investigate what had happened and call me back. She called back and said that Brit Solar would do the installation and that Brit Solar would call me back, I told her again that Brit Solar would not do the installation and I was told that by a guy called Ollie who spoke directly to the manager during my last phone call. Emma said she would call me back. About half an hour later another lady called me "Sorry Mr Ingram we won’t be able to do your installation".
And now it’s too late to go to another solar company. Thank you very much homesun You royally cocked up my life for a while and as It was my intention to buy the instillation in a couple of years you stole the opportunity from me to earn £20K +.
I wonder if homesun even use an installation company that cover the Dorchester,Dorset area?
I am going to do some investigation as regards to my legal position.

Actually got a call from Homesun at 7.15pm last night!

But, it was only someone saying that they were taking over our request to remove the scaffold, from someone else.

I was thinking about things this morning and I would like to state, for the record, I have NOT asked, nor will I ask, for Homesun to cancel our installation or to remove us from the installation 'queue'. The only thing I have asked is for the removal of the scaffold as, long term, I consider it a hazard to our security.

I am able and willing to accept any available installation date/time.

I am happy for the scaffold to be re-erected when an installation date is given.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.
  • Location North Cornwall.

Scaffold installed in one and a half hours 23/11
Electrical work and panels installed in four hours 24/11

    Free 16 panel array.
    Best generated output was 2.2kw
Today very dull and cloudy generation is fluctuating between 76w and 104w.
Since installation system has produced 27.8KW

Scaffolding is still in place. Homesun have advised that it will be removed shortly.

No certificate for electrical work received to date.
    Overall very professional.
  • Nice to hear a good story! Congratulations :)

The guys who turned up for my first (failed) installation were really pleasant and were raring to go. They also seemed very professional and I certainly have no argument with them. I mean let's be straight; if Homesun were 100% shoddy then they wouldn't be as succesful as they are. I did my research before I settled on Homesun and found nothing to worry me. That's why I don't understand why they have suddenly gone down the drain with me. Yes, obviously the FIT reduction is a nightmare, but still a contract is a contract and it's not like I've got any control over government policy. Didn't vote for either of the coallition!

So... nothing yesterday or today so far. It's the weekend so I suppose I should make allowances. Honestly I'm too tired to care today.
