Does the sale of goods act cover bespoke or custom made products?
I have a problem with a computer which was built to my specification from the companies list and has developed a fault
The manufacturer is saying that the Sale of Goods act does not cover it
    Help please

The computer needs to be as described and of satisfactory quality and if they try the argument that SOGA doesn't cover bespoke items in court then they are in for a shock

I am assuming you have purchased in the last 6 months otherwise you need to prove that it is a inherent fault.

When doing the weekly shop including ingredients for her child's school cookery tomorrow, my daughter's card was declined, so she took some items off and tried it again. Subsequent attempts were declined EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS DEFINITELY ENOUGH MONEY IN HER BANK ACCOUNT.:o
What transpired is that Asda's system took the money and put it in a 'holding account' so she cannot access it nor can she get the shopping!:exclamati
Asda say they "will sort it but it may take a week"! How dare they do this to a customer ? - (now a 'past customer', along with the rest of our family!)
What are customers' rights in this situation? She has not only been humiliated but we have had to transfer funds via the bank so that she can go out again, use more car fuel and time to get the shopping - elsewhere of course. Fortunately we were in a position to do that but many people would not be.

Unfortunately this is something that happens from time to time with card payments.

Why was the card initially declined? You said there was enough money after some things had been put back but was there enough for all of the items in the first attempt?

Hello all - a concert I was due to attend next week (Kristin Chenoweth) has been cancelled due to issues with the entertainment company. We've been told to contact the seller for a full refund, but I just wanted to know if this is going to be face value or will we get fees/charges back?

That's happened to me before in Co-op, they blamed the bank, the bank blamed them.
I took the cancelled/declined/error receipts to the bank and they cleared the limbo money actions from my account.
The Co-op's finance? manager laughed at me because it was £30 in limbo and I was getting frustrated because it was all the money I had left that week! I started shopping in a different supermarket.

I have a De'longhi Espresso machine bought from Argos (high st. store) It's 3 months old, developed a leak.
So I can return it to be fixed, replaced or refunded. I'd want to replaced, but they don't seem to sell that model anymore, although it says sold out, not discontinued.
If I got a refund for the price I paid I'd have to find another £20-£30 to get the same model somewhere else or the newer model from Argos.
Are Argos only required to refund it if they can't replace it?

Yes, that's pretty much all they need to do legally.
They could offer a repair, but that's unlikely.

Why not go into the store and ask them nicely what they can do to help?

    Hi,

If you have a query that you think will only need a quick yes or no answer then feel free to ask it here.

Otherwise you are very welcome to start a new thread.

Whatever you decide... good luck :)
I bought new glasses after having my eyes tested, when collected I said then they didn't seem right. I was told to try them, went back a week later and after a re-test they have given me another set of glasses but these are no good either. Can I ask for my money back, paid on credit card, and go elsewhere?

    Its the EC152 model.
The store is in another town, so it's a bit tricky to get to (with a coffee machine..on my bike :) )
I'll try talking to them but they do have a bit of a bad reputation for not being clear on consumer rights, a friend used to work there, they were actually told to tell consumers to go to manufacturers to fix problems.
TO be honest I'm wondering if buying a couple of £2.50 gaskets to fix it is better than getting a refund and finding the extra money to buy a similar model.

    Hi

I bought a memory card from Base, via amazon in December. The card has now died.
    Base have said the following
"...Unfortunately this item is now outside of our 28 day returns policy. Most electronic items come with a 1 year warranty directly with the manufacturer. Details of how to make a warranty claim should be included with documentation you received with this item."

Am I right in thinking that the Sale of Goods Act still applies even though I've bought via the internet. As its been in a laptop for 3 months its not subject to wear and tear. Would it be easier to contact Transcend directly.
