I bought a cast iron casserole dish from Aldi in the past month. I've used it and found, because the bottom of the pot is not flat inside, oil runs to the sides and things burn easily. Can I return this as not fit for purpose?
Their returns policy talks about faulty items but SADFART says I can return for this reason I think?
I have my receipt and packaging. Ta.
EDIT They took it back. Cashier wasn't sure but the manager just said, "It's a no quibble guarantee."0 -
I'm not sure I'm putting this question in the right place, as I can't work out how to post a comment, but can anyone help.... recently we have seen some shops go into liquidation. I had a small credit with Peacocks when they folded about a year ago, yet despite taking my gift card into the shop while it was still Peacocks and full of stock, they would not let me use it. It occurred to me today that this is so unfair, as if I went into the store and took goods but told them I wasn't going to pay, I would be arrested for being a criminal, yet they can take my money and say 'sorry we're not giving you the goods'. How can this be legal and fair? any comments please....0

But you got your answers when you asked this question last April.0 -
Hi,
I am pretty clued up on all this as I used to work in retail and read a lot on this site but today I encountered a situation -
I was returning a coat my son had worn only a few times when the seam burst and the zip stopper came off....back I went to M&S with my receipt.
The first girl said I couldn't return it because it was dirty.er yes, it has been worn..? She then spoke to a manager and came back and said they had to send it to a technologist to test to see if the coat in general had a fault. Not happy but ok.
So where do I stand if they come back and say the coat does not have a fault? I understand they have to prove its not faulty as its only a month old but how do I then prove it is?
Any advise welcome as this is really a catch 22 - I am right, it is faulty but they can now say what they want....0 -

I think you will just have to wait until they report back, nothing you can do at the moment, and you may be pleasantly surprised.

Hi I purchased a laptop 8 months ago and having various problems with windows shutting down due to unexpected errors and blue screen. The major retailer I bought it from have told me I need to deal with the manufacturer myself!! And in turn they have told me that if its a hardware issue it will come under my warranty but if software it's chargeable !! How can they charge when it's not my issue that the laptop has thus fault0

If the fault disappears it was caused by your manipulation of the software.
If the fault still exists then go back to the retailer with your findings.
You can insist on dealing with the retailer because it is he that sold the goods to you.
However, sometimes it is best to go direct to the manufacturer for a quicker resolution.0 -
Thanks for getting back to me, reset has been done was ok for a week then same problem , prob go direct to manufacture.0

I bought a recliner sofa and recliner chair from Homebase and they were delivered yesterday. When I ordered them I had only seen a pic in the catalogue as no Homebase within reach had any leather furniture on display. Now they're here I find that my husband cannot operate the recliner as his legs are too weak, and the recliners are both very stiff to close. This morning my husband has had a fall onto the floor from the very shallow seat of his new chair and has hurt himself. (He has dementia and the saleswoman was aware of that)
Do I have any grounds for returning this furniture?0 -

I would advise you to remove your email address from your post, replies will come to this thread.
If you ordered them from a catalogue and had not seen them in store, then you have the right under DSR to return them,, as long as you inform them of this within 7 working days beginning with the day after receipt of goods, this has to be done by a durable means, email counts but not a phone call unless they have agreed to this.
You may have to pay for return of the goods, but only if they informed you of this prior to the contract being concluded.
