  • Hi there, I bought a small flat screen tv from Argos with in the last 8 months, can remember if it was cash to card but can check statement to find out, anyway it no longer works! When we plug it in the standby light comes on but that's about it! As we don't have the receipt for it can we t are it back to Argos for an exchange for a working TV?
  • you would need a some form of proof of purchase, normally a bank statement would suffice.

    Hi there,
I just bought a bottle of whisky from The Spirit Celler. I made payment, received email confirmation and was looking forward to it arriving! I have just received an email saying that the prices were put up over the weekend and it now costs £14.88 more, could I phone with payment so they can dispatch. ;-(
Where do I stand with this?

Their T@C state that acceptance of an order takes place on despatch so I'm afraid your choice is to pay the extra or purchase elsewhere

Online order from Tesco got £10 off £50 spend - confirmed on website and again by email.
However , when shopping recieved the £10 discount not applied -this was because after promotions my spend was below £50 - yet website failed to pick this up
Contacted Tesco twice but they sticking to " sorry below £50 "
Contacted Consumer Direct and they say Tesco are in the wrong.
Anyone had similar to this ?

Your spend was below £50, wasn't it?

Consumer Direct just told you what you wanted to hear.

I thought Consumer Direct was disbanded earlier this year?

    It is CAB now
My point is website and email accepted order with £10 discount - although watching Watchdog, buyers had order accepted by Tesco email Tesco Order confirmation (which says inexplicably in TaC " this not a Order confirmation ") and they never got goods at discount price. So on that basis me in no luck i guess
  • I purchased a TV from Currys. The salesman gave me incorrect information at the point of sale which meant I had to buy additional items for the TV to work (from another shop). Currys have said they will give me a voucher to spend in their store. Do I have to accept this or can I insist they pay me back the money I had to spend (I don't want to return the TV)

Do you have it in writing that he gave incorrect information at time of sale?
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride

No but when I went back to the store he did admit to one of his colleagues that he had got it wrong.
