That's my current plan, yes. Buy, say, 30 of 'em in three separate shops at self-service; do my regular DTD shop; check my receipts on way out; look flabbergasted at the cost of the Flumps; go straight to CS with a stern look on my face; demand DTD or I'll shout myself hoarse/go to the local paper/phone Watchdog/kill someone, etc.

Do you get DTD from CS when the shop has gone through the self service? I didn't think you did, but I'm probably wrong. :o
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

Not according to The Grocer where Tesco has most recently recorded one of its rare victories as the cheapest supermarket this week, with its Grocer 33 basket coming in at £50.86 against £50.90 for ASDA.

    http://www.thegrocer.co.uk/articles.aspx?page=articles&ID=211293

It's important to remember that DTD involves focusing on those few product lines where ASDA is significantly cheaper than Tesco, whilst ignoring those where Tesco is significantly cheaper than ASDA. Everyone got excited when (for example) Linda McCartney Vegetarian Sausages where £1.83 in Tesco and £1.00 in ASDA because it meant that the net cost was only 17p a pack. Nobody apparently cares that they're now £1.00 in Tesco and £1.83 in ASDA. (Although that does mean that that nice Mr A will let you have them for 90p.)

i know, the 3 wombled reciepts i have put in have all come back cheaper in tescos, we have to remeber tescos promise is made on the whole basket rather that the specific items we are targetting, i dont think ANY of the supermarkets will comeout of this shinning

That was very kind of you :)

I have found this website http://www.homelessuk.org/ which has info on lots of shelters, which I expect people could donate to, but the homeless people I'd really like to give to are those actually living on the streets, does anyone know any way I can do that without just going up to them and giving them the food?

The issue I have with just going up to them personally and giving the food is there are a few homeless people on my street and I'd be passing them quite regular and wouldn't want to feel awkward or rude not giving something, and they often sleep right opposite my house and I'd feel odd ignoring them outside - hope that makes sense and I don't sound like a ignorant or crazy person! :(

A friend of mine helps out in the evenings at a homeless shelter. She sometimes cooks and I know when it's her turn she has to supply the food herself, say for example she might provide a pudding one month and the veg the next. The shelter she helps is run by the local church who are given a kitchen in a community centre for 3 hours every evening, so it might be worth contacting your local church and seeing if they doing anything like this. That way you can give it straight to them to be cooked.

Just as an aside, I've been getting cash DTD for a week now after hunting them down in-store (all thanks to posts on here): a Tesco-branded toy lorry was £1.99 on the SEL, charged something like £18.47, got about £32 in cash back. Ariel stain remover on the day it should have gone down to £3 according the SEL, went through at £4.55 - cleared the shelves and got cash DTD. Lamb legs were stickered almost a week early with the half-price labels in my local, bought one, got cash DTD. Charged £36 for an ironing board that was £20 on the SEL, so got £32 back.

Alongside this, Air Wick Reed Diffusers (the pink ones) were scanning at a quid for a couple of days last week so cleared the shelves and a Mars easter egg was scanning at 49p instead of £2.50 so stocked up on those too.

All of the above were posted by others at various points in threads 2 and 3 along with others that didn't work - the joys of having a self-scanner in-store! It was fun scanning an ironing board though, got some weird looks...
    hiya

can you explain cash dtd for me getting confused!!
on a positive note, done 3 shops today one after another and the
sa didnt bat an eyelid, got enough washing powder to last the year
    loving it

You can also go to your local Children and Famlies Social Work office, there are folks go there every day for a food parcel, your Betty Crockers etc would help to make up a food parcel. Or if you are buying things make them dried, tinned or jars.
Love your Mum, you'll never get another one when she's gone.

Cheeky question - will the spreadsheet be "snapshotted" and available as a download again? I was finding this very useful to be able to sort according to my own criteria, print out, and take with me ...

Eventually! We're still just getting to grips with it
