After last night's barbeque, when DD had the fun of a whole band of kids to muck around with - the last I heard over the fence was 'Do it do it do it do it' in the context of a game of Truth or Dare (no, I didn't want to find out what exactly IT was) - left her snoring this morning to get on with kitchen, putting up new curtains in my room :j, bit of floor mopping in the shower room and strimming the jungle for the first time since I moved in.

She eventually surfaced at about 12.45 and was quite annoyed to be told that I was doing dinner early, so all she could have was yoghurts and chocolate before she did the rest of her room. In fact, she started outright defying me by walking past and refusing to go upstairs. This continued for a brief period, after which she went up there and I followed, sweeping all her possessions into a pile on her feet before leaving with her laptop. The mood did not improve after dinner, when she followed me out into the kitchen and tried to pick an argument to distract from the room.

I threatened to chuck water over her as a joke and she stone faced, practically hissed at me 'you wouldn't'

    'Are you sure about that?'

    'You wouldn't dare, because - '

    Splash.

Without another word, she closed her mouth, which was hanging open with amazement, ran upstairs and started tidying her room.

Do not test me, child.

    Wasted today completely.

Builder never came so I text him half hour after he should have been here and just said typical builder. Bless, he did phone back and apologise as he got called to an urgent job!

All I have managed to do today is swept the kitchen floor and folded about 3 loads of washing that have been sitting there for as many days.

Oh and went out to get food and everywhere is shut apart from out Tesco garage which was heaving. Luckily found a half price leg of lamb with is currently roasting with chopped tomatoes, onion and garlic for a change. You must be lucky where you are piggers as I needed to do proper food shopping although I did get bread and milk as well.

You are so lucky Jojo, last time I tried anything similar we actually got to fisticuffs and I still bear the scars almost a year later! She would have been 11 at the time.

Ok Dd walking doogie, DS doing nothing again and DH in the shower prior to going back to work, not looking forward to tonight if last night was anything to go by, he had to wait 3 1/2 hours for back up to carry a patient as they were so short staffed and had a stupid amount of stupid jobs to go to.

Best I go make his coffee.

Q first tho' Has anyone had any experience of trying to get insurance for a young driver and who with. We found a good first car for DS with a 0.8 engine so not stupid and the quotes came out at £3795 for comp insurance and £4k+ for 3rd party !!

Thanks, pigpen. I'll try that next time.

    Happy Birthday, short bird!

cheapdate - hope it all goes well next week!

cat - hope you managed to find something for your lunch. I was going to suggest a walk with the dog and eating out, but lost the post.

Mrs B - 18 is most definitely the minimum age for a tattoo, which is why DS1 wouldn't tell me who had done it for him. However, he has since said to DS2 that it's just drawn on. I'll give him a few baths/showers before I'll know who he lied to. ;)

The roast pork is almost done, spuds on and veg prepped, rhubarb crumble ready to go in the oven. I'm just having a quick break before heading back into the kitchen. I had my breakfast as late as possible today, to save my calories for dinner. :D

Visited MIL, friend down the road and other friend today (mainly to deliver/collect Easter goodies). DS2 has been playing outside with NN's DD almost all the time since we came back, DH is snoozing and DS1 has a friend round. I'll probably have a nap after I've eaten and then get on with school stuff. Good job the thread is not so busy today - I'd never have kept up.

My mate used a firm called collingwoods for insurance for his lad when he was learning to drive. They will do policies from as little as 1 day to 1 year ;) they insured him only when he was going to be driving which 'saved' them loads!

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately in a French barn in the middle of a village with no shops. The local town is shut today and tomorrow. Managed to unearth some leftover HBEggs from last nights tuna pasta, and a slightly stale roll. Felt very virtuous to have avoided the temptation of the cheese and pate. (There was stuff in the fridge, but I'm on a strict diet to try and shed a stone by 10th May.)

So what do I do? I come on holiday to France :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

ETA. Strict diet refers to food. Am allowed some wine :T

Quinn Direct - was £600 for probationary insurance on a 1.6d, and then £1200 once 18 yo passed his test. Changed to a 1.4 petrol without increasing, and you can pay over 10 months which not all of them let you do.

The children are waterbombing each other outside so the kitchen is

Fabulous dinner munched which was a miracle as it was a bit of an experiment. Fried off onion, peppers and garlic in a roasting tin, added leg of lamb, slung in a tin of chopped tomatoes, some chopped potatoes, a couple of cans of water and some seasoning plus a little sugar and left to roast. Absolutely gorgeous and only one tin to wash.

Thx AnW'smum, Kazw and hex. A couple of his mates are with Quinn but we cant seem to get on their website at the mo so I've given up looking for today its ridiculous.

I know I've done bog all today and in fact very little appears to have been achieved this week but I think I might sit with my feet up with the TV and then have an early night as so tired.

Love to all, hugs and spoons x
