Soappie and Feup I try to force the happy memories but they seem so far away. I often think if I could just have one day with him being well it would be so nice. I'll stop now as I'm upsetting myself.

The sky has darken so I'm hoping for some rain. Time to go and make up 2 beds with the lighter duvets.

Awww Dusty..... you can remember the good times. After Dad was cremated, us kids (Mum had passed on a few years before) took some time wondering what to do with his ashes. (Dare I say this? Yes, I dare!) his little urn spent some months living underneath my bed....

We finally decided a date and time and took him on one last walk (in a rucksack!) over a favourite hill of his and then scattered him off the top. It felt right and it WAS right.... because we remembered him as he was before he got ill and when we were little.

We were ALWAYS being taken on walks that we would grumble about because they were so long and so steep and we only had little legs. So it was very, very fitting and I remember my Dad that way more often than the other way - leading us over ANOTHER ridge of a hill which we thought was the top but it wasn't actually yet - "just another bit further" he'd say...

DS1's toe is fractured and dislocated. 3 people had to hold him down while they tried to put it back (he's a 6ft tall streak of bacon with surprising strength). Just had X-rays and now waiting for it to be strapped.

I hope this isn't going to impact on his college course. It's A First Diploma in Sport :( It's due to finish in 6 weeks time. I hope it's continuous assessment as he's going to be rather compromised for the practical assessment.

I NEED a glass of Wine.

    Double ouch!

Re the college course - get him to get a medical certificate off the hospital - he has mitigating circumstances for sure! And I'll pour the wine for you..

Perhaps you could let me know what the cheap (but "good" - i.e. not inner city type!) villages are and maybe I'll start looking....
What are places like Crich like to live in?

Can't help you with Derbyshire, but South Yorks is nice, too. :D Lots of lovely places within easy reach.

Oh, and today's the 15th anniversary of the death of my Dad. It seems, paradoxically, not only a lifetime ago but also just a moment ago away.

I know exactly what you mean. DS1 was 4 1/2 years old when my Mum died - he's now almost 17. It took me a long time before I could talk about it without getting upset and I still miss her. She wasn't even 70. You've chosen a nice way to remember your Dad. I shall do the same in October.

ETA (((hugs))), Dusty - it takes a long time, doesn't it! Mum was only ill for a short 3 weeks and I hated it when the nurses in the hospital treated her like someone feeble minded. They didn't realise that less than a month earlier she lived independently, looked after my son full-time and also did some of my housework, as well as her own.

    Hello peeps

Sorry just need to shout  - I HATE THESE HOT DAYS WHEN THE NEIGHBOURS INHABITING THE HMO NEXT DOOR BUT ONE PLAY THEIR MUSIC SO LOUD THAT EVEN WITH ALL WINDOWS AND DOORS CLOSED IN THIS HEAT I CAN STILL HEAR EVERY WORD

It was 30 degrees outside when I got back in the car at 10am this morning!

Ok so where we at. I feel I have achieved very little this week I have had as holiday as the major job - DD's room hasnt been done for various reasons and its jarred me off a bit.

The back however is looking a lot better and today I whitewashed another wall so its looking ok for a concrete yard. Hopefully the clematis will cheer it up now it has some trellis to climb along.

Builder coming tomorrow (well he's a friend I havent seen in a while) and I have a long list of stuff to ask him about around the house.

Oh and mousey count is now up to 4 the last 2 being bigger according to DH so maybe thats the family for now.

Have had to catch up on a couple of days as I spent all afternoon in the pub yesterday and came home and fell asleep.

embb - Dd didnt want the colours I want so eventually this morning I went and got her the quilt covers she wanted and then went to take her to get paint to go with it and she decides she doesnt want them now! Room will have to wait again now and £120 for one room .

jennyjewell - Hope DS is improved now

MrsB - your work week sounds horrendous

Jinky - Hope BD has well and truly gone

    Goodintentions - welcome

mumto5 - Ouch for DS, my DS did his when he was 3 and it stuck out at right angles, luckily it popped back I suppose due to the bones being softer at that age.

Hugs for all those remembering dearly loved departed ones

Ok I think that it for now that I can think of so I may go and sort some clothes in front of the TV not that there will be anything on

    Evening,
    Busy day!
Had hair done, a darker shade than usual.
DH got DM and I cooked lunch.
We then went for a little walk along the canal, came back and I ironed a bit more. Changed our bed.
Packed suitcase, then BBQd, then tidied kitchen, then watched Britens got no talent :D, and am now running a bath.
Just need to get a bag of toiletries together then we are off to the Inlaws on the South Coast first thing.
Must remember to pack a book or 3.
    Night all
