Hi LA....5 years together ...how lovely....it's nice to see people still in love after a while together....happy anniversary.....
I'll know I'll be Df in 2011 at the latest as every loan is due to finish then but hope to pay them off before then...lol...
Have a lovely evening ...catch you later
  • Yes....I love him a little bit more every day. I never thought I'd meet anyone like him. He makes me very happy and I feel like I learn something new every day. He's a real one off. :smileyhea

It's lovely & sunny here - my 'whites' are billowing on the line and will be dry very soon. I love the smell of clean washing....also washed the bedding too so lovely, snuggly fresh bedding tonight. As you know, one of my favourite things!

I really fancied going into town today to rummage around the second hand shops and look for some interesting things for the home, maybe a book or two for the holiday and perhaps a new (to me) pair of funky trousers or something but.....I have stayed in. I have had to take some ibuprofen for tummy pain which didn't really help but, perhaps it's for the best. Second hand or not, I still would have been spending money eh?

I have a friend coming up to see me tomorrow. I haven't seen her for about 4 months and she hasn't been to my house for about 18 months so, it should be nice to catch up.

We're having pizza for lunch - I got BOGOF from Tesco! I *really* don't eat pizza that often as fiancé doesn't eat cheese so it's a real treat for me. Looking forward to that.

I also bought us a pack of Divine milk chocolate to nibble on for dessert!

So, simple pleasures this weekend: clean sheets, pizza to share, Divine milk chocolate and warm sunshine.

Evening LA....ahhhh how sweet I still feel the same about OH after 14 years together and hope that you will be as happy as we are!!!!
Clean sheets are heavenly especially line dried ones!!!...isn't it amazing how the simplest cheapest options often give us so much pleasure?...money doesn't always buy happiness!!!
Enjoy your pizza and chocolate(and of course fiance)

  • Bit of a catch up!

Have been on holiday and had a lovely time. Pretty much stuck to what I budgeted for the week (£100) which comprised £60 cash then I paid for one lot of groceries (we were self catering) for £22 and then I drew out another £20 on our penultimate day. Some of that cash came back with me so that was a bonus.

I also contributed £50 towards petrol to get us down to Devon & back plus a bit of driving around whilst we were there. All in all, I think we did pretty well, possibly over spent a bit but, not much really.

We were very good whilst we were there in that we ate in our apartment every evening and didn't dine out and we did loads of walking in the local area rather than drive all day to see something miles away and spend lots of money whilst we were there.

We did have lunches out on several days and drinks/ice creams etc but hey! We were on holiday! :D

I also blew a whole fiver or so (wow!) in an amusement arcade one afternoon but like a true DFW I brought all the 2p coins I won from the 2p shunt machines back and popped them in the change jar for the challenge I am doing! :rotfl:

All in all a lovely holiday and I am so happy to be going back to work tomorrow....yeah right.

I also became an Auntie again. Long & traumatic story but in a nutshell, Sister-in-law had a terrible labour though and it sounds like the midwife was bordering on negligent to me but the baby & Mum are home today so hopefully all is OK now. The little girl was 6lb and her name is 'Hope'. Lovely name eh?

Well the Egg Balance Transfer has gone through (in signature!). I know I am slightly overdrawn now but this will be wiped out come pay day.

I must must must MUST now start to budget properly and schedule things in a bit more wisely when it comes to spending money. I cannot go back down this overdraft route!

I will be contacting the bank after pay day (or maybe before) to get them to reduce the OD right down. I just need to be sure on the amount to be reduce to as I don't want to leave myself vulnerable if I do leave my Godforsaken job and have to take a temporary pay cut if I temp.

I am thinking enough room to breathe/a mortgage payment is a sensible amount to reduce it to.

I haven't actually cut up the Egg card yet....however it's now been in my purse for getting on for 2 weeks and I have been in lots of shops and I haven't been even close to tempted to use it! So that's good. The thought of having a credit card bill still makes me feel ill actually.

I will snip it up very soon though - probably as soon as I make my first repayment just in case I need the number or something.

Anyway that's it from me now.....Feeling happy with the reduced overdraft, am raring to go on the budgeting front and also hoping to reduce the Egg card with over payments when realistically possible.

OK time for a frugal but yummy dinner now!

    Catch you soon.

Hi LA, so glad that you had a good holiday, and BOO HISS to going back to work tomorrow!

Hope - what a lovely name. As long as her surname is not KNOTT.........

  • Banked some more change yesterday - just £5.79 but hey, better than being another £5.79 overdrawn, no?

I bank with first direct and they are changing their structure. They will no longer charge interest for the first £250 of an overdraft :j so that's gonna be good for me. It starts 1st November I think.

OK OK I *know* I don't plan to be overdrawn at all but if something does crop up then £250 interest free will be useful.

I have booked a pitch for a car boot sale on Sunday at a school in the little town where I work and it's only £4 if you book in advance. :)

I trawled around the house last night and I have got three boxes of stuff to try & sell and I didn't think I had anything!

I need a bit of advice....I don't want to be unrealistic on prices but I don't want to undersell either. Please have a read of the following paragraphs and if you can comment I would really appreciate it.

How much do you think is reasonable to charge for fairly good CDs i.e. dance albums, Pulp, Eels, Mansun, Placebo, Jamiroquai.

Also I have a brand new DVD of A Beautiful Mind (sealed - it didn't sell on Amazon or EBAY).

Clothes - a pair of pink Miss Selfridge Hot Pink cords in good condition, and a few other tops in very good condition.

I also have a John Lewis thin cord jacket in Olive green, again great condition and not at all fuddy duddy - very good for Autumn I think.

Books: How much do you charge for hardbacks and paperbacks, just general fiction or Health/Beauty related.

I do have a new 10 Years Younger Nutrition Bible which is pristine and I don't think it should go for 50p or something silly....what do you think is a reasonable cost?

The other stuff I think I can price up more or less but wouldn't mind some feedback on the things above.

    Thanks in advance!

Hi LA...it's so hard to say at car boots a lot of people want something for nothing...you would probably get no more than a £1 each for cds and books, clothes £2-£3 perhaps....the new DVD maybe £3-£4...I really don't know...it's awful seeing things go for next to nothing though...but it's money off a debt and less clutter and £4 entrance is great...I have to pay £10!!!!
