I work with someone who has so much luck with money. I mean we're talking grants, finding money hidden away (purple notes here not just a few quid!) winning stuff...I'm really really jealous! When God was handing out the financial luck/savvy I tell you , I was off at the short legs and big ar5e queue. Some deal that was. A *bum* deal. Ho ho.

hey sweetie had a spare five mins and thought I'd catch that rant you told me about. This bit in particular reminded me of something I'm found to say on many an occasion...

    I haven't rambled for a while!

Not much to report really. Overdraft is coming down slowly - and I do mean slowly - each month.

It probably could come down quicker but that would mean spending zero on the house and eating 8p noodles every day. If it was just me on my own I might be tempted for the latter but, I think the BF would go off his rocker if I tried it!

BF bought us a washing machine after our other one stopped spinning (it was ten years old bless it!) which was a relief.

But I have since coughed up for painting supplies to tart up the house, the money to plumb the washing machine in and I will sort out the £40 to a friend who got us a flat screen monitor off her Dad. I also absorbed the extra money for the high gas bill we had in and didn't ask him for more towards it. So we've both had things to pay for and I think it'll work out about even.

I hopefully will have won a competition at work or at worst, come third so that will be £70 (at least) cash next week. That will pay for my hair appointment at the end of May (phew). If I come second or first it will be a bigger prize and the money is earmarked for other bills I have to pay at the end of May so - it would be sooo handy to win it. Wish me luck!

I've been quidco-ing where possible recently and always doing the KelKoo searches & The High Street searches so I am hoping I will get a nice payout at the end of May. I also applied for a Post Office credit card and they have validated £20 for that already so, that's handy.

Now before any of you go  at that "I applied for a Post Office credit card" bit....please please don't worry!

I did it because I wanted to get the £20 plus I have to get something to wear for 2 weddings I am off to in June.

I really don't have a dress suitable (or anything) so I figured I'll get £20 towards it via Quidco, buy the dress then cut the card up (I am an expert at cutting cards up now, believe me) and pay the bill off at the end of June as it won't be that much, I'll try to hunt out a bargain, trust me!

I feel like I am explaining my actions in front of the headmaster's desk!! :rotfl:

I've been down that road regarding CC's - I ain't going there again. This is purely on *my*terms and I know what I have to do.

Got the electric bill in today (after I rang through the proper reading)....that'll have to wait till the end of May . I'll send a cheque the week of pay day...I might have had the red bill by then do you think? Can't remember how long they leave it before they threaten to cut you off.

I'm looking forward to the day when I can just pay the bills as soon as they come in and not worry about it!

BF & I worked on the house on the Bank Holiday weekend. We're trying to do little and often in making it much more attractive by tarting up simple things. The bathroom is now repainted and will be regrouted / resealed by the end of the month too.

The bedroom ceiling is now a lot fresher looking (the woman before us here was a smoker so it was a bit...off white shall we say).

After that I need to track down my friend who said he had some carpet we could have for the hallway as it is a neutral colour and would look so much better than the cr@ppy wood stuff the previous owners put down. They failed to finish off the edges, it looks sooo naff!

After *that* then we will borrow a sander and re do our window sills ourselves, a pot of woodstain / varnish should be all that will cost.

So plenty to do and that's just the start!

Can't wait for June I really can't. May is a 5 week between pay day month and it's awful. I hate it! They seem so unfair when they are so close together (the last one was March). Fine if you get paid weekly but monthly is a nightmare. Anyone else find that?

Anyway that's about it for now - not much of interest but thought I'd update you so you know I am still here - and still am trying to get debt free! :D

hi la. thanks for the update. I have been spending time thinkin of those who don't post much anymore and wondering what they are up to so thanks for letting us know your good.

good luck with the credit card, kinda tempted to get one myself, spend a bit on it for a couple months then cancel it, £20 is better in my pocket than theirs eh?

    big hugs xxx

Quick update.......I won the competition I mentioned in my last long post so I will be £170 better off tomorrow! That's going straight in the bank and helps pay for some things I have lined up between now and pay day. Chuffed!

Typically though...one of my teeth (a canine) has become really sensitive and today actually started to really *smart* when I drank some orange squash or when I brushed my teeth after dinner and got water on it :(.

I am not sure if I have just been a bit over zealous with the cleaning of them recently though and if it will calm down as I really really really don't want to have to spend these winnings on dental treatment!!!! That would just be so unfair.

Well done on winning that money and I hope that a tube of Sensodyne is all you need to sort out that tooth!

    Thanks guys.

I do already use Sensodyne though....and (as of February) an electric toothbrush rather than a manual brush so it's gentler. :(

I'm just going to see how it goes over the next few days and try & avoid sugary foods etc. I do get a bit carried away with brushing and the gum is a little receded above that tooth so....that might have caused it. I won't ignore it for long though (hard to ignore dental pain eh??)

Little reflexology tip for you which may help with the dental pain.

Pinch the top section of the ring finger, on the side of the body that you have the dental pain. Pinch it for a couple of minutes and the pain will recede. Better than taking endless painkillers, plus easy for you to control!

Hope you don't have to suffer for too long.
