Hello J_D! Thanks for your comments hon. I must say though, you were on here at an atrocious hour!! I hope you are OK and I hope that you were not up worrying about £££ - or with a poorly child...
Well I have done some work on my Excel Workbook today and put in a new easy to fill in sheet where I just type in what I spend every day and it is divided into sections - or should I say columns.
There is a column each for:
The date
Groceries
Going Out
'Beauty' Stuff (aka Girlie Stuff!)
Bus fares (as it's hit & miss depending on what lifts I can cadge off of colleagues!)
Other
(I have a comments column for the "Other" so I can elaborate on this but it should cover stuff like books, DVDs or CDs should I ever succumb to such temptation!)
I have put in a running total which adds up all the cells and continues through each day.
Why bother? So I can see how all those little odds & sods are mounting up and also so I can see how much I am spending on groceries so I can amend what is left of our £200 monthly budget and not overspend.
I am hoping this will focus me again as I am somewhat losing the plot a bit. I know I am very good at telling other people not to give up, and to keep going etc, every little helps and I know it's true - I need to take some of my own advice because I can't see an end to the overdraft right now.
Anyway I have done some smart shopping tonight, online. By that I mean I have thought about a couple of things I wanted and have got them cheaper on EBAY, via QuidCo. So I will even make a few pennies on the purchases!
I stocked up on a couple more soya milks at Tesco today too seems I was passing the place which will save me a bit off the Sainsburys weekly shop too.
I had to order some hair products today (did you all see that "What won't you give up?" thread? Hair products were one of mine!) but again, did it through QuidCo and it's tracked already so....hurrah.
I might be going out after work next week for a pizza with a friend I haven't seen for ages - MONTHS. If I do it will be one of only 4 social engagements I have in April and considering April is my birthday month and I usually go mad, that's not bad for me!
2 of the engagements will be cheap anyway and the pizza place is not in the middle of the city so, it should be cheaper as well (and I can get a lift home hooray!).
I'm trying to list things on EBAY & Amazon - have got 5 things on EBAY at the moment but none are selling. However two are being watched - fingers crossed they sell.
Amazon is very quiet at the momentWish it'd pick up!
Anything else I find that is no longer required around the house is being freecycled. OK it doesn't raise any cash but it helps de-clutter the house and I like the fact it's helping other people who are possibly DFW-ers too.
QuidCo-ing (searches, surveys etc) every day where possible and still doing Piggy Clicks & Quizzes. I don't know why I bother with the quizzes though - like I'm ever going to win! It'll be sometime till my next Boots or John Lewis voucher I'm sure but, I'll keep going.
Right I had better go and update my signature as the overdraft is not that figure anymore! Got paid today so I am in the black....till tomorrow!! :rotfl:
Argh, just remembered I have the Doctors in the morning and will probably need to pay for two prescription items....oh b*gger!Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.
