  • Thank you too, LA - I had a blast. Lovely to meet you.

The spam kept coming back, but with the help of a whip and a chair we got rid.

    Get Stardrops on the carpet!

I'm stepping back from the weekly challenge myself for a couple of weeks until I get my permanent pay rolling in. Once I know exactly what's coming in I should be able to budget more successfully myself, so don't worry about a few weeks off.

Oh, and congratulations on being credit card free! Another big leap forward!
 What if the hokey cokey is what it's all about?

  • Thanks beanielou.

Ah well here I am on my 'day off', coughing my guts up, eyes streaming (won't be on the pc long!), blowing my nose every 2 minutes and generally feeling sorry for myself.

BF texted me whilst I was away at the weekend saying he'd done everything around the house so there was nothing left for me to do. "Great! Thank you so much!" I enthuse.

    Hmmmmm.

Let's just say his idea of 'nothing left to do' and mine are poles apart.

This morning when I really should have just stayed in bed, I've been stupidly vacuuming everywhere, cleaning (make that scrubbing) the kitchen and also the bathroom.

Sorry, I don't wish to offend any gentlemen readers but what *is it* with men and the cleanliness of a house?

Do guys keep their eyes shut all the while they use a bathroom?

Once entering the kitchen zone do fat spills, tea/coffee stains and bits of food splashed everywhere magically cease to exist? I'm not exaggerating when I say the floor was crunching underfoot with breadcrumbs and the like either.....am I the only person who can feel & hear it in the household...?

I tell you I am coming back as a bloke next time.

OK moan over. Off to try and cobble together some sort of DFW lunch now...and cough a bit more (it's starting to hurt when I cough now!)

i know i have the same problem with my man ...i live in a house with 3 men (when the cat was alive ...yep you guessed it a male) so i figured out a long long time ago it just wasnt gonna happen till they move out ...so i have effectively given up ...kim and aggie would have a field day in my house ...chemical warfare everywhere...it got that bad even hubby is moaning so i said if you dont like it clean it ...so he did...on the one hand it's great on the other ...why oh why did i bother....
  • I used to be - by my own admission - really fussy to the point of OCD (I think!) when it came to the house being clean & tidy with everything in it's place.

When I started to live with my BF it became clear that I would drive myself into an early grave if I tried to uphold such a level of clean & tidiness, or the relationship just wouldn't survive, as he is very untidy and can be quite clumsy with spillages etc etc.

So I relaxed a bit and things generally seem to be OK although most of my spare time at the weekend always seems to be spent cleaning up and getting the house back to a presentable state (and he often asks "Why haven't you got a hobby at the weekend..?" :rotfl: )

I come from a family where they are quite 'relaxed' about housework shall we say but I hated growing up in that house and was always embarrassed if friends came over (especially if they wanted to use the bathroom  ) so when I left home & got my own place, I went the opposite way.

So many kids rebel with drink & drugs and all the rest of it.......LA rebels by going bananas with the Cif....:rotfl:

    Sad really.

i lived in the same family situation...i could swap tales with you no probs...and i was the same ..i moved into a caravan wheni was 16 and obsessively cleaned it ..i was the same when we got our first house ..but when we had our kid and the nephew moved in like you i wouldve sent myself nuts ...so to save my sanity i have had to take a step back (that and the 50-60 working hour week would do it) i actually cant wait till my kid and nephew leave home so i can get it clean again lol
  • lol - maybe some before & after photos of certain areas would be interesting!

50 - 60 hours weeks? Sheesh. You're right, you would've driven yourself insane!
