Quick PANIC! Lets all rush out and fill up!.......Oh, I can't afford to anymore! Better stay at home and earn no money.......and pay no tax!
Should last me until a week after the Government reduces the price by 24p - wonder if Morrison's will still be doing their 6p off promotion?0 -
Ahead of yer there mate! Panicked yesterday (before I knew I needed to) and filled up at Morrison's with a 6p a litre off coupon so it was 133.9 for diesel, saving £3.66 on the fill.

Fuel 129.9 at my local Tesco. Lower than some parts, granted, but it's changed a few times. I have 3-4 cars at any one time, and have no intention of giving them up. I don't use them to go 500 yards to the shops, I do prefer to walk. But for work- I really don't fancy trying to carry my cameras, laptop and assorted bits on the back of a bike for a 55mile round trip!
I do remember paying 72p when I started driving though- and that's not long ago!0 -

I dont know why people keep harping on about the same sort of thing.
of course if you need a car for work then you will use one
but theres plenty of people who can easily use other methods
I use a mix of bike and bus for work just now
its cheaper and not too much more hassle
yes the car is convenient but the extra cash in my pocket is nice too
I ue the car for day trips, food shopping etc and dont need to worry so much about the fuel0 -
Morrisons by me have put 3p on a litre since their 6p off promo.0

Most petrol stations are charging £1.44 per litre for diesel in Belfast. The cheapest I've found is £137.9.
Nutts :mad:0 -
are so expensive compared to the local pumps ???? can be up to 14p a litre is it really because we just dont complain enough & pay up or what ? if we really did stop using them would they have to put the price down ?0

). Booked it last year. Not thinking about the petrol cost because my eyes might bleed.
In June 2008 we went to the Lake District and I remember we ran short of petrol on the way home and were forced to get some at a motorway service station. I only put £10 worth in because I was so thoroughly outraged at the motorway price of 124.9p per litre. How times have changed.
I wouldn't mind paying so much if the higher prices were forcing people off the road so driving was more pleasant (looking forward to getting north of Carlisle where it becomes fun), but no sign of it so far...
Petrol at Carlisle was 136.9p today and at Manchester just off the motorway it was 135.9p. Just driven home from Worcestershire and driving north of Carlisle was a breeze, empty motorway AND sunshineLight Bulb Moment - 11th Nov 2004 - Debt Free Day - 25th Mar 2011 :j0 -

Supply and demand.
Most people who use motorway service fuel stations, because they don't have enough in their tanks to find an alternative.
On top of which, their overheads are much higher than an ordinary filling station. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0
