The petrol station in the next village is charging one penny less than the one just outside our village and they still haven't got any queues. Meanwhile, the more expensive one is doing booming business. It looks like the local citizens have sent a message to this shyster. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0

And I hope people still boycott it.
A filling station, in a village local to us, did the same thing. He had to drop dis prices too. It didn't do him any good though. On a Sunday evening, when the queues are normally constantly five or six cars deep, his forecourt is nearly empty
To be fair to the independent filling stations , if they run out of fuel they have no income , but they still have their overheads to cover , i doubt there is much profit in a litre of fuel in the first placeVuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0 -

Their profit remains the same because they sold the fuel they had in their tanks; it just happened quicker. If their profit for that fuel was ten thousand pounds and they expected to make that in a week, this time they made that in three days (hypothetical example). The same profit, for the same overheads.
That said, this time their profit was much higher, because they set out on a profiteering expedition, but are now seeing the downside of their arrogance. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

My local Tesco put it up 2p yesterday to 134.9p0

Been hovering round the £1.40 / £1.41 mark round here for the past 5 or 6 weeks. That's at supermarkets and locals so we're nicely stitched up0

Unleaded at my local ASDA and Tesco in Bristol is around 132.7p now. Coupled with my 5p off Tesco voucher, Tesco clubcard points and AA credit card points, it seems I'll be effectively paying around 121p for unleaded this month.0
