GTFO - driving a Korean car has to have SOME benefits - it's MY petrol pump :rotfl:

Reminds me of the time coming out of the Silverlink on a busy Saturday.

Two lanes at the roundabout, one marked left and one marked right and straight ahead.

The left exit has two lanes as it leads to another roundabout. So I'm turning left at the roundabout out of the Silverlink and go to join the right lane ready for the right turn at the following roundabout. When I notice a range rover to my right who had came out of the right/straight ahead lane turn to join the same lane as me. He nearly side swiped me.

I'd say its more neanderthal, even sheep-like to sit in a queue that is totally unnecessary, adding to the delays of yourself and those around you when all you have to do is show some road sense and everyone benefits.
As mentioned above, by going all the way around the roundabout you are also making a blocker for cars entering from other parts of the roundabout making it easier for those in the mentioned left lane to get out.
By sitting in a queue you are also decreasing your mpg quite significantly and this is a money saving forum afterall.

I do it all the time on the way home from work, especially when you get a lorry in the left hand lane that cant get out where a car certainly could and then ends up holding up half a mile of traffic while they wait for a space

I used to come accross a roundabout on a regular journey where this was both possible and safe, quite a large roundabout.
All was well untill one day in the wet I was particularly trying to get back on my route before a couple of HGVs about 5 back in the queue. Toe down, I spun 180 on the roundabout and had to do an embarresing 3 point reverse turn as all looked on:o:o:o. Still got away in front of the lorries but.........................
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

This thread might as well be asking if it's "cheeky" to drive upto the vacant left hand petrol pump in a car with a right hand filler cap and reel out all the hose to go around your car.

Or if it's "cheeky" to use leave a queue and jump to the newly opened til at the supermarket.

    Get over yourselves people!!!!

Might not be cheeky to do this but at my local BP petrol station you are not allowed to! I tried it once as the petrol station was packed, as I was pulling the hose over my car, a voice comes over the tannoy asking me to stop and turn my car around! I was soooo embarrassed!! :o

The point, which you have spectacularly missed, is that yes - everyone should merge while traffic is rolling but not a mile or so prior to the merge point !!!! If everone stayed in lane until the merge point the traffic would still flow but the poor sods who just want to get round the roundabout or junction a mile or so back aren't impeded by a ridiculous line of traffic that is twice the length it should be.

(oh and don't get me started on sodding lorry drivers who think they are some kind of "highway sheriff/god of the road" and start blocking off lanes - imbeciles)

    I haven't missed any point.

Answer this - Why is it not better to keep traffic rolling and merge when there is enough space to do so? Once a queue starts gaps close hence the braking, hence standing traffic. All you are doing is making it worse. The fact the queue is longer is immaterial. If it is moving it is longer but you'll be through it quicker. Do you have another argument to give?

Also, why is it when the Police close a lane no one goes right tot he end and moves in. If the Police are there, everyone gets over nice and early. Strange that isn't it?

    5t.
What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?

I still go to the end when the police close a lane, but as I stated above I also roll at a similarish speed to the other lane and merge cleanly.

Never had any hassle from them for it, not even a tut tut.

Also going to the end and merging without anyone stopping are not mutually exclusive.

Best to check the design of pump. Shell ones the hose emerges from a roller inside. Most Tesco ones have really long hoses, but a lot of the older, crappier, BP garages have ancient pumps with short hoses.

And yes I do reverse up to the pump in that situation, and yes I get glares from other people in the queue, but ultimately nobody was using the pump and my actions have not caused you any delay beyond what your own silliness was already causing.

It's similar to a situation at my local Asda, they have 3 cash machines but one of them is the old green screen type which you can't see unless standing directly in front of it. Usually a single queue forms but nobody will use the old one, therefore everyone else already queuing asumes it's broken. I join the queue, wait 15 seconds to see if anybody attempts to use that machine, if nobody does I'll just use it. Ultimately it improves queue times for everyone as then the rest of the queue will then start using that machine.
