Thanks. I wonder if thats why their head office switched off as they knew it was ilegal what he was doing, they were so so quick to say they had no control over the business of a self employed rep as in it was akin to a franchise, but even with a franchise I am aware the named company has a say.

To be honest I could understand if a flyer had been put through the door leaving us the choice wether to ring, but where I am they regualry just knock at the door, you can guarantee a month prior to xmas or easter asking do you want a loan.

I also notice lately how provident are liasing with dcas to try to get an old debt that may be in dispute, to be rebooted as if as a new loan via provident and the first a person knows is they find a provvy agent at the door saying we need to speak to you on a personal matter and they make out they are trying to help by adding all this interest on an old disputed account form wherever that had nowt to do with provvy and people have to become wary of this. My friend was the person who experienced the provvy trying to sell a disputed account as a new loan and came to me as use consumer sites and to my horror I have found this is not widely mentioned though appearing now.

Are people who respect the old provvy aware that they are liasing with dcas and they are getting charged interest on something that might be statute barred etc.......

But yes I used the provvy in past with no problems till the woman left the round and my opinion changed when I had to keep chasing them to take the money, made my mind up when paid off to leave it and here a couple of years later they are obvioulsy doing hard sell to reopen old rounds.

They do take on old debts from other companies but no interest is added on, infact they deduct 10% from the initial amount.
Whether you agree with this or not is entirely upto you but they do not add interest on at all and each visit is preceeded by a letter in the post. People often choose to ignore these letters which generally means they say the first thing they knew of it was a knock on the door.

THE MAJORITY OF AGENTS DONT UNDERSTAND THE SCHEME

Provident has gone down hill from the perspective of their own staff and the customer. There is no respect for loan sharks now and to the agents refering to their customers as friends, who the hell would load such a loan on a friend?

Your customers are not your friends said to see you go, they probably cannot wait to prevent the offering of another loan they dont really want !!!!!!

Theres NEVER been any respect for loan sharks, but we're not loan sharks. Anyway we've been through this earlier on in the thread. I understand youre p****d off with the pushy agent who tried to sell to you and yes he shouldnt have behaved like that. it is illegal to canvass cash. But once again a repeated numerous times we're not all like that. And our current customers can always say 'No' when they get offers of cash.

Anyone who get s offers off cash loans from the doorstep lenders like provi, or shopacheck should report it to fsa or their local office, get the agent reprimanded. I do agree that some of the customers do become friends but i do think that is when the line has definately been crossed, how many of the agents know that they are putting themselves in the firing line when this happens and show a total lack of professionalism for the job.

Sorry teamspirit, dont believe it, no doesnt get them commision. If the head office had wanted to act I may have reconsidered my opinions, but they didnt give a damm, so that man is probably still at it.

Did you put your complaint into writing or just a phonecall? Writing to them may be a better idea, or there is always your local office, they would know which agent is in your area. And no we are not all like that, there is no way i would knock on a random door and wave cash around and then persist in coming back after being asked not to. i prefer my customers to ask me for a loan rather than pushing them. my new customers i always explain exactly what they are paying back before they sign any agreements. What i have noticed is a lots of letters being sent out to my customers telling them they are entitled to a loan printed with either my name or my DM's, this is without my knowledge until i arrive to collect and am shown these letters.
As for the 'customers are friends' comments, this is true i have made many friends through my book, theses customers/friends yet again ask me for a loan and are explained every aspect before deciding.
If you take a look at the back of a payment book it states "Agents Wanted, Would you like to make good rates of commision and make new friends at the same time"
As for the comment agents are better off by 8% well im certainly not one of them! in the last 4 weeks i have been "fined" £240, not once have i gained from this new scheme, and yes i have worked hard to try and change my customers arrears stages, ever tried getting blood out of a stone? its really not easy! i am a single parent and like to spend my weekends with my daughter like most people but today, out at 8am not home until 2pm trying to collect to save being fined up to £120. this was done with arrangements with my customers, not even half of them were home. they were spending time with their families unlike myself.

I would advise all agents to contact the HMRC at the address below. Please advise them on days you visit the office, hours you work, general contact with office, control from your managers and instructions and control with regard to your agency. We have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Don't be fooled by the comments of we will be worse off or reps will lose their jobs ? If our status changed we would be paid for the hours we work including call backs ! And why would we need less reps ? They would have same number of customers ! If we can get our status changed we get some job security 52 weeks a year and not just on a weekly basis. So if you really want to do some thing about this I would get those letters off now. If not the only winners in the long run will be provident and the only opportunity you will get for a long time will be gone.
