I think if more customers saw this they too would be disgusted. Thank you so much for contacting watchdog and I hope you get a reply.0

I have been an agent for a few years now and Yes it is Providents fault for not visiting arrears customers as all they worry about is sales. I thing now dms arent allowed to do loans anymore so that might help. I think the biggest thing to hit them would be to refuse new doors etc and do as little sales as possible. It is a problem making a stand on your own as I dont really want to lose my job as I do enjoy it but this new system is totally defeating the whole thing Provident wants - sales and new customers. I shant be wanting any more new doors and I shall only do sales that actually benefit me. I am self employed so surely its up to me how many customers I have and how much money I let them have!!0

The clue is in the title Development Manager, not arrears manager, to develop a section although more recently the role is more of an admin position.I think if you ask most DM's they would rather be knocking doors on arrears calls, but their time is used up on other aspects of the job imposed over the last couple of years. The decision to impose these commission adjustments were made at HO and not by the DM's who are genuinely concerned to how this is affecting the agents.
Its not just the agents that have been targeted over the last 18 months there have been job losses at Head office and in the field, managers bonuses were restructured and are few and far between, and a considerable amount less than in recent years. If an agent is getting large amounts deducted from their commission week on week, then I would suggest they needed re training or a change of career.0 -
They can sack everyone, but then again you are self employed so can also leave whenever you want. As for those thinking of jumping ship a word of advice shopacheck are using PDA'S are used for taking customers payments as well as banking too. They are gradually getting rid of the clerks.
I do believe agents are bearing the brunt of the new practises but i am sure there are plenty of people who are bending over and taking it too. At the end of the day provident will say if you don't like it leave, i can guarantee that with every agent that leaves there will be two people willing to replace you.0 -
not long had a phone call from a fellow agent , he has told me that he will be picking up £40 this week after deductions (theft) of his wages ..amount deducted is £60 .. after putting £20 petrol in to get to work .he will come out with £20.. he is giving his pack in , and quitting........... he feels so demoralised and depressed. the other agents i have spoken to feel the same, we are at an all time low in our office,0

What about the deputy covering the agent's round when they take a much needed break? It is not fair that they have to be penalised over 100 quid for collecting the agents round. This is one week out of 6, so where is the fairness in that?0
