There's nothing wrong with being PRO Provident, we all were until these "fines" started.

This entire thread started when the fines were introduced and we now have over 1000 postings, 108000+ views entirely due to Agents seeing deductions on their commission statements.

Thousands of Agents have since left the company, many no doubt as a result of these deductions.

Agents can benefit of course with this system, but in reality the net result will be a loss.

Scrap the system... end of complaints.. end of these posts.

Personally I think the reduction in commission % for accounts that go into arrears is sufficient, as is the increase in commission % for bringing accounts back into quality.

I'm sure Agents would be more willing to issue to new accounts without these fines. They won't issue risky business as they still have to call week in week out several times etc for reduced commission.

crooky has made many valid points and it's of no concern who she may be... that's her business. I'm happy to believe she is as she says she is.

We both have family who still work for Provident and it's in our interest to see the company doing well and making profits. I just don't agree with the company making deductions from Agents commission.

And as this entire thread was started due to that fact nor do the vast majority of Agents.
You're absolutely right! no-one anticipated these fines and no-one wanted them. The quality in provident may haveincreased but at what cost? we have people on here squabbling, name calling and in general being nasty to provident. As you all know I started this thread and only asked for advice on the matter and did not think it would go as far as this. I'm glad it has as it's shown provident in a proper light. They have done themselves no favours and I'm sure it will even its self out with those deserving what they get. I'm glad I'm out and they have lost many good people, some the heart and soul of the company with a very good way with customers and very good at what they did. I wonder in a years time when they check their MIDAS results will the replacements be showing the same profit?

Those who have issued irresponsibly over the years are finding it biting them in the bum right now.

Yes, but when it's month end and Managers are looking for Bonus, when books are held over to achieve more sales to get them their bonus, when Agents are told to go out and do more sales on Tuesday, what does the Agent do ?

The Managers demand more sales, Agents are ordered to up date Managers on sales they can do. Lets remember those Agents have banked their money, have no cash and need float to do the sales and then any issue they do they can't collect the first payment until next Tuesday.

Agents are forced to issue just to earn Managers their bonus.

When a Manager is on the phone to you hourly, who do you issue to ?
  • I often read all the postings with relish. When I started I was overwhelmed as to how much I came to love the job, I would willingly do issue on a tues/weds, put on new doors, canvess etc. However, as of april 2010 things totally changed for me. To date I have had nearly £1,000 of fines. I no longer work mid week, I very rarely put on new customers, anyone who has cost me £15 forget it they can get written off. Why should I work 10 hour days, waste my petrol calling repeatedly on customers I know are not going to pay. I totally abhore liars so why on earth can't the top people up in Bradford just be honest with why why why why why the decided to start the fines....................................Do they not understand the word loyalty. It works both ways.

Joshua when I was an agent and asked to do those things I refused. I refused to issue to customers who couldnt afford it just so managers got their bonus. It was my agency and I had control over it and noone told me I had to hold over my book and get more sales. Simple answer was no.

19england66 wow so if youre not collecting on customers who have cost you £15 and youve had nearly £1000 of fines that means you have over 60 customers gone bad. Is that right or have you infact won those fines back but not counting that?

Oh Crooky you have no idea how things have changed, refuse now and they go ahead and issue it,after over 30 years this is the only period where I do not have control of agency, I am told they are not my customers but Providents, why do you think we are all up in arms, why should we be made to pay when issue is put on against our better judgement, we know the customers circumstances not the DM's, and as for saying No you would be showen the door. You are so out of touch, maybe it would be better not to comment on things you have no up to date information on, provident when you were working was a completely different animal to now.
  • Reply to crooky. I have lost a third of my book so what does that tell you

demoralised I do know what things are like now, im not so out of touch as you say. If I was out of touch I wouldnt know about these fines etc would I? I dont know of any office like yours where the managers have so much control over the agents. How has it got to that?

19england66 it tells me you have no control over your agency and have overcommitted your customers. Fair enough some can go bad through no fault of yours but come on, a third of your book gone bad.
  • Crooky you should be ashamed of yourself. I lend very responsibly often taking an hour with customers. The ones that have cost me have no intention of paying. They come to the door and refuse thats if they havent left the country. I never do big loans or overburden families. Your reply disgusts me.

    .

In Offices where the AM has delusions of ROM and DOM status I'm afraid to say

Agents are shown the door if they don't do as they are ordered, self employed and running their own business went out the door long ago.

LMAO seriously how many times do I have to tell you I dont work for Provident, not in a managerial role, not in marketing not anything. I am self employed but not as an agent or in anyway anything to do with home credit at all. What have I to gain from lying? I left as an agent in 2006 or thereabouts.

As I said out of touch, the words came out of your own mouth.Reading on this blog about fines is not the same as having to pay them,as I also said Provident of today is a completely different company to the one you worked as an agent for in 2006, all your comments were valid then but not now.One of the real problems is that too large a part of DM's wages are bonus driven, give them a fair basic and allow them to deal with arrears and leave the selling to the people who actually know the customers and their problems THE AGENTS.Stop penalizing agents twice for non payers ie reduced commision plus fines, and remember we are a subprime lender so no agent is ever going to have a 100% book, something provident has already allowed for when setting interest rates, so why the necessity to claw back even more from agents wages.Provident start valueing what is left of your agent workforce before it is too late, then maybe we can stop this downwards spiral before it gets out of control.
