  • Well folks , after 15 years as a loyal agent, I have now quit! Couldnt do with the unpleasantness in the office any more, especially when the DM is a real b......! I found something much better to do where I feel I will be really appreciated and thankful for my hard work. Apparently there are some changes coming in after Xmas as Provident realise this system isnt really working lol! No benefit to the poor agents I bet! 18 agents have left in my office in the last 3 months. Well Im off to where the grass is greener - good riddens Provident!!!!
  • They should bring the changes in asap I fear after christmas will be to late, many agents I have spoken to are downing tools as soon as they have christmas sorted, sooner if the snow comes, and the half year figs are looking a bit sick by all accounts,if they want to save provident and keep agent expertise intact they must act now.....................................
  • Have I missed something a quote from todays interim management statement [can be viewed on Providents website]-" Collections and the management of early stage arrears remain strong, reinforced by the enhancements made to the agents' commission scheme early in the year."WHAT ENHANCEMENT?-the dictionary definition of enhancement is quote" The act of increasing, or state of being increased".Where is the enhancement in regards to arrears collections,we are only able to possibly recoup what has been taken in the first place, that is not an enhancement, but it is a deliberate attempt to pull the wool over the eyes of investors.
  • hi all,

i also quit last week along with another agent in my area.
i know of several agents who will stay until the xmas rush is over and then leave.

i told the dm that as several customers had been put on an agreed lesser rate which was lower than the rate on the clip i would be getting a £5 and £10 fine in a few weeks time for each person on my book.

i also told him the hits and wins system is illegal.

good riddance i say, the worst company by far i have ever worked for in my 30year working life!
  • It would be interesting to know how many agents have quit since they brought this in ....any ideas on this??

    2,500 or so i gather.

Many more come the New Year when the fines will bite even harder.

I guess many Agents will work up to Xmas and then jack it in before the New Year fines kick in.

Scrap the fines in the New year and they might hold on to some Agents.
  • I've heard through the grapevine that provi are trying to integrate the smaller books and have a stronger workforce of more full time agents. So much for the pin money books for people not wishing to work full time. Does that then mean fewer agents will result in D.M losses? I think if I were you lot tuning in I would be worrying especially if your red amber and greens are not what they should be!

I believe the company are doing well via collections but sales are way down on whats expected. Obviously its the agents saving their wins and losses who are keeping this afloat but they cannot/will not sell to someone who may cost them further down the line.

Hit them where it hurts, NO SALES,NO SALES,NO SALES
  • the so called "managers" dont have the sense to see that it is the agents that ARE provident. If agents dont issue there will be no provident, and what agent is going to issue knowing that they will have to collect for no wages. What planet do they live on :j When 2500 agents have already left doesnt that tell them something.Im glad I left when I did but I still have good friends working there ( till Christmas anyway)
They need some new management in there that knows some people skills because that was sadly lacking when i was there.Have you ever noticed that no matter what level of management, they are like little clones they even speak the same language (provi gobbledy gook) none of them think for themselves or have an opinion to voice . They only say what they have been programmed to say.
The agents are the key and the management cant see it. They dont even have the sense to see that their jobs are next to be threatened. Less gents= less managers needed

There used to be some interesting things on here. Now its just silly with people putting everyone in the same box and name calling managers who are apparently all the same and cant think or speak for themselves. Agents are not the be all and end all of Provident, as you have found out they can be replaced fairly easily. Shouting and stamping feet doesnt change anything and despite all the threats to take legal action etc what has actually been done?

Rome wasn't built in a day it all takes time my friend, alas I agree re the name calling, however yes agents are being replaced fairly easily but at what cost, you and Provident have greatly underestimated the level of expertise you have lost, you now have the equivalent of a sticking plaster over a gapeing wound.Selling is the easy part, selling responsibly takes more skill, in the short term all will appear well, if not improved, but it is really hiding a major problem down the road,I fear for Providents trading licence if some of the sales tactics of badly trained agents was to become public knowledge, for example waving wads of cash in front of hard pressed customers to get them to take out a loan, which they later regret,is nothing short of scandalos, and I am sure breaches the terms of their licence.
