God, I HATE this secure key lark! It's the most inconvenient piece of crap EVER!!! How many bloody numbers are we expected to remember? And as if I want to carry that thing around with me everywhere!
I needed to do a quick transfer from the office today, but of course couldn't because I'd left it at home... so I can't access my own details. Much preferred the previous method, this has turned a process that is meant to be convenient to something totally inconvenient!0 -

The idea is good for people with just a single bank account to manage. In my case I manage three and one of them is my wife's who also requires access.
It used to be so simple to go to the site, put in the account ID along with the other relevant information and manage the accounts. Now I will not be able to do this without having all three gadgets to hand and if my wife happens to have the thing with her then I have no chance.
Is there perhaps a way of obtaining two of these pads for one account? I suspect not! And what about the other obvious flaw in the system? You can't tell one from the other. How come HSBC didn't think to add a signatuire strip or even an identifying sticker. Yes, I know there is a unique serial on each one but who is going to remember that?
Poor implementation! Yes, the extra security is always welcome but this is a pain.0 -

You shouldn't be accessing your wife's internet banking! If you have a joint account you can access the joint account from your own log-in.
Her own log-in should be known to her and her only, so you should have no need of her fob. If she ever had her account hacked, and had shared her log-in details with someone, then it is unlikely the bank will have any sympathy. Before you ask, yes, I work for a bank, but no, I didn't get a bonus!0 -

Santander already adopt this system. They call it OTP.0 -
Another thumbs down from me. What an inconvenience!! No longer able to access account online unless you have this device with you, just something else to carry around and lose, and what happens when the thing breaks down which it will no doubt do? Stupid system.I USED TO BE INDECISIVE BUT NOW I'M NOT SO SURE!
Rich people tell you that money doesn't bring you happiness just so the poor people don't feel jealous.0 -

If it breaks (they will send you a new one.....)
If the battery runs out (they will send you a new one...)
Come on now...• HSBC (Main A/C)
• Halifax Back up A/C
• Lloyds (Spending) A/C
• RBS Back up A/C
• Barclays Old A/C
• Nationwide Old A/C0 -
Hi - don't know if this is a little off topic but has anyone *not* received a secure key, but lost the option to skip to their accounts?
I'm so frustrated, I haven't received a secure key but I now can't view my balances, make payments or ANYTHING without it! There used to be an option to do so, but it's vanished. What's going on?? I emailed the tech team, they told me that HSBC are issuing everyone with a secure key by the end of this year, copied and pasted in a few irrelevant FAQ answers and then advised me to ring a premium rate number, without giving any help on the disappearing 'skip to my accounts' button. Just wondering if anyone else is having this problem/if they've resolved it?
I don't want to wait this out, who knows when my secure key will be sent!!

I guess I do most of my online banking at home. I never used my work laptop in my old job for it, and in my new job I can't see that changing as I work either in open plan offices or on client sites so it really isn't appropriate to do so.
So far in my collection I have one for Barclays, Natwest and just waiting for the HSBC one.- Mortgage @ March 2008: £194,965 ; Lightbulb Moment: July 2011: £164,926; End Date: March 2033
