Many people here talked about the problems of this calculator. However, can anyone suggest where can I get a right calculator?0

my son in law receives DLA lower and middle due to unstable epilepsy, but last week was diagnosed with lung cancer. How does he apply to have his benefit re-assessed as l think it will have to be PIP instead. How long does it take, and do the 'special rules' of DLA apply in PIP claims?0

is your son in laws condition terminal?
PIP does use 'special rules' but as with DLA it is only applied when the claimant is expected to live for 6 months or less.
to apply for a reconsideration or transfer to PIP, just phone the usual DLA helpline.
08457 123 456
if his condition isn't terminal, then please look at the PIP descriptors, as they are different from DLA and you don't want to jeopardise his current claim0 -
thank you Nannytone l will do that, and hopefully he will have longer than 6 months, so l will look at the PIP descriptors again.0

My wife and I have been separated for five years now and we are both eligible for the state retirement pension. (I live in sheltered accomodation, Local Council/Housing Association, my former wife owns her own house.)
Is it ok if i enter myself as single on the form, and does the marriage status affect the benefits checker?
Thanks.

p.s. Wonderful site, Martin, especially this section. Thanks again.0 -

Yes, you need to enter yourself as single as you live in separate properties.0 -
