Defender, a spend diary can be eye opening. I used to pay 60p a day to park my car on a car park at college. I kicked this in to touch because it was £12 a month. Its not always the big things that count, its those little things that add up even spending a pound at a vending machine etc a day it all soon mounts up. I went shopping last night and was mugged for the first time in a long time by my children. I budgeted to spend about £80 on the monthly "big" shop, however 4 easter eggs and a fluffy sheep for my daughter later and that went up to £125. Sometime tiredness doesn't kill, it just costs :)
    TOTAL AT START £13606.90 27/03/2018
    TOTAL CURRENT £13445.90 29/03/2018

Normally down to under £100 by pay day. I overpay debt as much as possible and this means it gets pretty tight towards the end of the month.
    Bank Loans: [STRIKE]£25000[/STRIKE] £0- Barclay Card 14%: [STRIKE]£2500[/STRIKE] £0- Student Loan: [STRIKE]£12,500[/STRIKE] £0
    Current total [STRIKE]£40,000[/STRIKE] £0:j (100% PAID OFF)
  • I have about £250 each pay day. This is after all bills and savings have been siphoned away.

I do not have any debt which helps, walk most days to work or elsewhere, make my own b/fast and lunches for the office and eat out once every 3 months or so. I enjoy saving as well as the thrill of having fun w/out having to spend a penny most days. For me, a long walk; borrowing a good book from the library; discussing or watching a movie with my hubby is far more satisfying than roaming the shops spending on things I do not need.

I'm a second class citizen, as i only have a current account, and a basic one, at that, ( well two now, as i've just received my pin for my new account, yesterday ), also basic, with zero balance. :rotfl:

I'm sure i've heard someone talk about an internet savings account, is it with the yorks bs? for second class citizens. Maybe someone could point me in the right direction? thanks :)

I've got two internet savings accounts, nothing in either of them at the moment. Was no hassle to open them. They are with SplatVest

ps. I have about £2 in my account - 9 days before payday and a loooong time before the end of the month
  • Well we're about half way thru the month, and I have currently got -£25 in my bank acct :( I took £80 out tho the other day and didn't end up buying what I was meant to, so this is currently put to one side as I have budgeted it for this weekend.

Should be getting some money in there in the next couple of days and am really hoping to make it last til payday - I have been trying to get out of my overdraft since I moved in my house last August.

Fingers crossed this month is the month I finally have a positive figure come pay day - as the dreaded car insurance is due next month, and that will take me straight back in!

I have 10 days til payday and currently have £35 left of last paydays money, with about £150 of credit available should it be needed. Usually, I end up going slightly into one of the debts I paid off at the beginning of the month - this month, I may go £20-30 into the overdraft I paid £50 off on payday.

However, it's the new financial year, which means bonus and payrise month. Bonus should hopefully leave me almost debt free, and if I can then get through next month without touching any credit, the repayments I'm no longer making along with the payrise should leave me a touch over £100 a month better off.

I've got no debts, other than my barclaycards which i pay in full each month so no interest. Got around £10k in gold coins, another £40k in a swiss bullionvault, £40k in NS&I certs, £10k in stocks and shares ISA, and around £120k in savings a/cs. My current a/c balance is usually around £1k at the end of the month. I need to be more efficient as i don't get any interest on that balance, but i would hate to ever go in the red. Nothing annoys me more, so I err on the side of caution.

PS. I'm single and looking for a hot chick to help me out with my financial difficulties.

At the moment I have about £600 at the end of each month but that will change once I have dealt with the bad CC. I've had to have a bit of savings available for a fee that's now been partially waived, so thankfully I will have much more to go toward the card. What I am expecting from next payday however will be £8!!!
Debt at worst: £33000 (Feb 2011). Present debt: £25610 (Apr 2012)
    Lloyds old (22.4%) = 560 (Dec 2012)

My £3000 overdraft is usually maxed out at the end of each month. Its been in the red for years now but I have it as my lowest priority as it is interest free (for now).
