I have no overdraft so when i get to £0 i have £0, i get paid on the 6th of every month. and am normally under £10 by the 26th - 27th of the month. however this month is the last month where i will have to pay £100 back to my grandad, so am hoping to save at least £50 from next month.

£0 2 weeks before payday :( We own NO loan, credit cards etc so only wage.
One wage, 2 children and a car is too blame especially with rise in bills this year.

    £0.

On purpose, because I have a pretty tight budget and anything leftover goes to debt (around £900 a month).
    Total Debt Sept 2010 - £24,132.38 / Current - £0.00/ 100% paid

less than nothing - I am paying of my od at 200 a month atm - am down to 400 now. Once OD is paid off I am throwing the £200 at cards til they are paid (17 months time according to my snowball) then maybe just maybe there might be some left at the end of each month!

  • Being self employed we do not have such things as a regular amount on payday but we pay ourselves a wage on what we have generated over a month incorporated in that we permit an amount of £500pm for savings .Our 2nd business is generating enough money to also take an amount from that also we can save again depends what we generate .Saving is a habit we can all spend every penny we earn it is rather easy, my motto is the more you have going out the more skint you will be at the end of a month or week I limit d/d to electric, car insurance,tv licence, aa motor, phone, internet, I do not and never have bought items on tick do not ever use an overdraft facility but save for items and go abroad once every other year, buy clothes when we require them, spend not a lot at xmas do not fall for that old scam ,Went to a do the other week My outfit cost which consisted of a blue burberry shirt, italian leather shoes, tweed jacket , all 2nd hand of ebay total £125 and jeans from TJhuges £10. If I had bought the ebay items new they would have come to shirt£72, jacket£245, shoes £185 . It is all down to being frugal not tight buying what you need not want, If you want o save , save what you can afford and set a realistic target say £500-and move up £1000-£1,500£2,000 etc etc etc once you get past1k it gets easier all down to wanting to do it

I get 0% interest on my current account, so if there's more than a fiver left by the end of the month, I've done something wrong.

Withdraw cash for the things I need to buy, the rest goes into savings. Any additional purchases go onto the credit card which is paid off in full when I get paid next month. Then rinse and repeat :)

I'm like orangesmartie - I usually have less than £5 in my account the day before payday but it's by design.

On payday I transfer out everything I'm saving that month and the rest is for my bills and living expenses. I run a pretty detailed budget so it's all accounted for. I have a small overdraft facility just in case there is something unexpected that comes out, but I've never had to use it.

According to my own financial records, i try and have almost zero in my current accounts before payday, but this is because i have already sent money off to various different budgetting accounts and paid bills/debt etc. The banks think i have either £25 or £50 which are amounts i have 'charged' myself in my records but which don't exist so that i never run the risk of being overdrawn because of a payment i may have stupidly forgotten to record at some stage (can't remember the last time this happened).
I also have a tendancy to temporarily transfer the amounts for large bills eg mortgage, credit card into a savings account until a couple of days before they're due to be paid when i transfer them back to the current account. There's no point them sitting in an account which gets zero interest when i can get a few pennies for little or no effort in a savings account.
  • This month I will be in the negative unless move some from savings, I overspent last month and its had a knock on effect. Currently left is £30 and 16 days till payday. Seeing how long I can last before my next food shop!
